Drank from a 12 Fl. Oz. bottle purchased at Gordon’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Watertown, MA
11.10.2022
Served in a tulip
Glossy, pitch black appearance. The viscous, oily looking body was capped by a small, bubbly, saddle brown head that quickly broke into a thin collar. A few dots of lacing trickled down the sides of the glass.
The aroma was fantastic. Toasted hazelnut notes dominated. The coffee presence was subtle however. Dark chocolate was noticeable as well. Moderately sweet overall. Slightly roasty. As the beer warmed, the chocolate notes became richer and fudgier.
Hazelnut came through strong in the flavor profile was well. Some almond notes appeared as the beer moved along the palate. Bit of dark chocolate too. Roasted malts were noticeable on the back end and trailed into the finish. There was a big booziness here as well, but the barrel qualities were rather muted. More lingering roast, booze and sweet nutty and chocolatey notes after the swallow.
The mouthfeel was rich and oily but slightly thinner in body than I anticipated. A super fine and subtle effervescence gave the beer a nice slickness on the palate.
Even though I picked up absolutely no pistachio in this beer and the barrel notes were quite subtle, it was still really enjoyable. That said, after having Mo Peanut Mo Problems (another barrel-aged, nut-infused imperial stout by Prairie) a few days earlier, I definitely thought that beer was the superior offering.

I have had this in the fridge for a while, decided this was the beer for after hockey.
Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Rich dark brown color with a nice beige head and initial lacing. Love the smell. Pistachio, chestnut, hazelnut, dark chocolate and coconut. Taste follows these smell. Smooth creamy feel. Nice treat!

12oz bottle found at Prefunk, overpriced as expected and still purchased because this one is new to me and I like Prairies integration of coffee into their sweet stouts to cut the...sweetness. Pours very dark brown/black with a creamy tan head. Roasty hazelnut and maple sugars lean into some dark chocolatey booze...nutty, bourbon, toffee...espresso is there in the nose and on the palate...definitely sweet overall, but short of cloying; full-bodied and smooth and viscous. Kinda what I expected, and thats not a bad statement.

its been awhile since i dipped into one of these enormous and spendy prairie stouts, perhaps too long, i used to try to keep up, then i couldnt afford it, now ive missed too many of them to ever probably catch up, but i liked this, fun to see pistachios in a beer, less common than i think it should be, and this showcases them well, this is also done with marzipan, hazelnut coffee, and dark chocolate, a great combination of flavors. near black, super viscous, and leggy from the mario brothers looking bottle, always weird art on prairie beers these days, only a little carbonation activity visible. the nose is cool, dark chocolate with the roast of the grain is an obvious synergy, the coffee is stronger than the nuts in this, but i definitely get hazelnut, almond, and indeed pistachio, although not in equal proportion, and way more of the marzipan in the taste than in the aroma, but they kind of hit at different moments, a cool trajectory for this. the coffee is fresh, strong in the flavor, and killer with the strong whiskey character this has, barrel char, vanilla, and then the chocolate well integrated also. the coffee makes it warm and wintery and cozy, its as strong as the dark grain in this, and the alcohol is warming too, definitely a fireside sipper type of brew, bold but i did not find it over flavored. the pistachio may be the most subtle element, but its not hard to place. hints of honey and molasses in this, milk chocolate too, but not too sweet overall, despite being palate coating and rich. not sure the hazelnut is tied to the coffee the way i thought it would be, but its still real compatible. delicious overall, even if a small doses thing. i think we all know what to expect in these now, and sharing a small bottle a couple of ways is about right for most of them. really cool with the different nut elements in it!

Dark black color, just a hint of a head, no lace.
Aroma of chocolate, nuts, vanilla, booze. A little coffee.
Great taste. Chocolate/chocolate fudge, coffee, hazelnut, pistachio, vanilla.
Fairly sweet, alcohol not a deterrent.

What a nutty nose. And the flavor follows the nuttiness with pistachios and hazelnut roasted coffee. Dark chocolate notes, and the marzipan comes into play, too.
It has a medium creamy mouthfeel, a little sticky on the lips. A little bourbon barrel heat in the finish with an aftertaste of pistachio.

Opaque black body with slight brown speckling and head, points for fun bottle art. Pistachio and hazelnut coffee with lesser marzipan lead nose, chocolate and bourbon support. Taste brings out the coffee to meet the nuttiness, creamy malt and marzipan with bourbon round out. Feel is super creamy and malty with moderate warmth and moderate percolation from coffee, but mostly smooth in a lush way

On Tap at Westside Taphouse in West Salem Oregon.
Lovely looking beer thick, viscous black with a great thick tan head. Work of art.
Lovely, sweet and boozy aromas. Nutty, pistachio ice cream and dark chocolate.
Taste of all the above. I particularly liked the pistachio.
Fantastic creamy mouth feel. Makes this very dangerous to drink. Alcohol barely noticed.
Very nice indeed.

The artwork on the bottle was great. It poured like tar, but smelled and tasted great. Recommendations for food pairings appreciated.

Bottle. Tan head. Fades quickly.
So much fudge and brownies. So much sweetness from the marzipan. Has a peanut butter flavor from the hazelnut. Coffee, light roast. Some vanilla. Barrels are kind of covered by the adjuncts. It’s decent but I prefer other recent releases.

Appearance: pours a dark black satin-like color, with a thin, dark tan or brown foam head.
Aroma: A punch in the sinuses with rich dark chocolate, hazelnut, pistachio butter, and dark roast coffee.
Taste: incredibly rich and creamy chocolate, very nutty with some coffee notes. Sweet malts. Mellow oak bourbon barrel in the background. Finishes slightly dry and boozy. Thick, silky smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: Wow, this one is packed FULL of aroma and flavor. I've never had an imperial stout like this. The chocolate is almost like a lava cake drizzled with chocolate syrup. The nuttiness is very well pronounced. It all blends together nicely. Very deceptive when it comes to the 13.6% ABV.

Pours a very effervescent ebony with a rapidly failing caramel colored head. Viscous, zero head retention & lacing
S: Dark chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts
T: All of the above, plus dryness, some pistachio notes up front, a little warming booze as well. Super fudgy as this beer warms, some barrel notes, vanilla & hazelnuts, plus dryness & some cola notes. Finishes with barrel dryness/boozeyness, hazelnut & chocolate & just a little coffee
MF: Medium/chewy body, very low carbonation, warming
Solid offering, the body seemed just good not great

Prairie Artisan Super Pistache Bros BBA Imperial Stout, 13.6% ABV. Pours black with the usual meager Prairie Stout head, which left no lacing. Nose is pistachios and dark chocolate. Taste follows, plus bourbon, quite sweet, mild bitterness, some bourbon burn. Decent thick mouthfeel, with light carbonation. Overall outstanding.
