Notes: Prairie Standard is our everyday beer. Its a light, crisp saison with a hoppy finish. This beer is dry hopped 1lb per bbl with Motueka hops. A lovely New Zealand hop with a spicy lime like flavor and aroma.

Pours a pale straw colour, steady haze. Head is white, scraggly, settles to a finger of head with no real lacing. Interesting, not overly so though.

Smells mildly Bretty and funky. Green apple, notes of citrus zest with some barnyard and a funny grain-malt note, almost popcorny. Quite pleasant.

Taste is mildly tart. Quite dry, somewhat wheaty, with just a very soft pull from a mild barnyard note that really dries it up without adding much character. Slight fruity notes, somewhat cereal-y, ultimately refreshing but not too interesting.

Quite full; almost unsettlingly so. Bitty, slightly dry. A bit odd.

Dry, refreshing, Champagne-esque beer. Very sessionable, but also because it's at times a bit tame and mild compared to what it feels like it could be.

A beer that caught me by surprise! It’s refreshing and crisp. Bought it for the first time when I was camping in 85+ degree heat and this beer was perfect. Poured a bright straw color with a heavy white head. It smelled and tasted fragrant lemon. Flavor was just lightly bready with a yeasty component. Hops were light but gave a subtle citrus kick. Medium bodied in the mouth yet very drinkable and refreshing. Overall: a perfectly balanced saison without being heavy on the yeast and spicy!

Beer pours a cloudy pale gold with a head that leaves minimal lacing. The smell is lime juice and yeast. A very bright and inviting smell. The taste is reminiscent of a wheat beer with pepper, coriander and spices but followed by a bright lime flavor. A nice hoppiness at the end rounds it all out. This is such a delicious and refreshing beer.

Very delightful mellow glow with a happy, creamy cap of 2 fingers. Exquisite.

Nose is of lemon, yeast, pepper, berry, fruity candy, dry grass.

Flavor is just insanely delicious. Lots of great peppery yeast notes, lemon rind, clove, banana, with a grassy hop bite and fruity candy at the finish.

Feel is another bull's eye. It's extremely refreshing, crisp, almost too carbonated but just right, and has a dry, grassy finish.

An outstanding, stellar Farmhouse Ale. I'll be picking more up.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: 5 - What a beautiful beer! An orange/tan color, quite hazy. Poured about a finger of white, foamy head. Looks wonderful!

S: 4.8 - This smells awesome. A lot of citrus. Orange, a little lime. A very floral scent. Grapefruit.

T: 5 - Holy shit. It's an absolute mouthful of flavor. Grapefruit and orange jump out. There is a wonderful tartness about it, like it hugs my tongue. The citrus is strong on the taste like it was on the nose. Super impressive.

M: 5 - It's comfortable to drink. It goes down easy, no burn. Good stuff.

O: 4.95 - I went in to this review expecting to give this probably around a 4. Maybe I rated this so highly because I haven't had many Saison/Farmhouse Ales, I don't know. This was my first one to review, and I will definitely be trying some more of this style. I thought the big imperial stouts reigned supreme, but damn I enjoyed this beer. 3/3 for Prairie so far.

Pours a pale yellowish in the small nonic with plenty of white foam. Faint lemony taste with some scratchy bitterness. Faint aroma is pleasant with the fruity hint. Sparkly and a little sharp. Light yeasty flavor with the drying sensation. To me this tastes more like a Single, maybe crossed with an anemic American Pale ale. Quite bitter in the aftertaste when there is nothing left of the malt.

The flavor grows after some sipping and the Belgian yeast leaves its mark on your tongue, but it also gets more harsh. This would be a good one for Trader Joe's to put in cans. It's hardly worth the price they're asking. Bought at Bottleworks in San Diego.

Poured from a bottle into a Duvel tulip. The pour is a light hazy orange color with a perfect 2 fingers of dense foam. On the nose I'm getting dry, floral notes and some citrus-like American hops that smell like oranges and pineapples.

Light body and a nice, firm feel. Not overly carbonated. Soft, wheat-like grainy flavors up front and a nice spicy hop component at mid-palate. Citrus flavors of oranges, lemons, and pineapples take over from the grain and dry out the finish with a light tartness. Very thirst-quenching, but without the stony dryness many Saisons have.

What a nice beer! It kind of combines the feel and character of a Saison with the flavor of an American Pale Ale or American Pale Wheat Ale. Very refreshing and easy-drinking, but with some complexity. I predict I will be buying 6-packs of this beer over the summer to serve as a go-to thirst-quencher.

L: Hazy yellow. Thin white head which dissipates quickly. Good lacing. I like the hand-drawn label and bottlecap.
S: Lemon and lime.
T: Lime. Grassy? Nice. Refreshing.
F: Light bodied. Good carbonation.
O: Good. A nice example of the style. The lime taste is a nice change.

A - Pours a bright straw color and is very opaque. Has a bubbly two finger head that dissipates quickly.

S - Has a grassy/hay type nose to it. Slight funk with vegetal hops.

T - Light citrus hops, a bit of funk, white peppers, rye like spices and grassy flavors.

S - Crisp, light bodied but a bit over carbed, in my opinion.

O - It's a great offering from Prairie. I'd tone down the carb a bit and make the nose more fragrant. Other than that, spot on saison.

Overall a very nice beer to have a few of. It is a nice balance of hops and malt for a lower abv beer.

Pours hazy and straw-colored into a mason jar. Craggy white head, half-finger retention with nice lacing. Bright lemon/lime zest characters on the nose. Tart, slightly sour at the front of the tongue. Middle of the mouth: grass, hay, Sweet Tarts. Finishes slightly dry, but not intensely so. Super refreshing. Perfect session beer. Drink outdoors.

#1 First Beer Review on BA.

Pours a soft and murky yellow with a lasting thin head. When spun in glass to release the bouquet, it leaves a light doily of small, tightly packed bubbles....spot on for a proper Saison.

The nose is of lemongrass and freshly cut hay, with an undertone of citrusy hops. As one would hope (I'm one), it is a good balance of acid and earthiness.

Carbonation is spot on, opening up the taste buds to a citrusy, spicy blanket of refreshing bubbles and followed with a peppery, slightly bitter finish. There's an initial lemony astringent bite that mellows out into a peppered, coriander sort of earth bomb. I can't help but want to drink more.

A purist's saison with a very welcomed hop addition. Spice, acidity, soft carbonation and mouth feel are right on. This was my first Prairie beer, but will definitely not be my last. Next up, BOMB!

12oz bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours a clear medium golden body, slight coppery hue, one finger white head, good retention. Not much in way of lacing. Smell is citrus and spice, a bit of mineral, a fair bit of tart green apple and mild grain sweetness. Flavour is a bit of cidery green apple tartness, lemon, a bit of hard mineral- sort of a minimal sulfuric type- minimal grain sweetness, a bit of grapefruit sweetness on the finish as well. It's sort of farmhouse-y, with that distinct mineral flavour lingering on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly lower in carbonation than expected- a little more effervescence would be great. Slightly sulfuric finish. A decent farmhouse ale; I thought the green apple tartness was a bit off-putting, otherwise the hops in this works quite nicely.
