Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Prairie Hop is our hop driven saison. This beer is packed with Simcoe and Citra hops. Notes of peach, mango, and tangerine can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. The beer finishes dry which helps the hops jump out of the glass flavor wise.

Bottle stamped 33416 (which I assume means 11/30/16)

Lightly hazed orange hue with a fat soapy head that sticks well to the surface. Fruity Belgian yeast esters, under-ripe mango, grass, tangerines, and clementines in the nose. Hoppy Belgian flavor...grassy dry hop, melon, citrus peel, flowers, and straw. Creamy medium body, finishing dry and slightly tart. A little heavy feeling for me and exhibiting more dry-hop greenness than I like, but pretty solid all around.

Definitely overpriced at nearly $20/ 4-pack. Very similar taste to Tank 7 - one of my favorite hoppy belgian ales.

Got as a Christmas gift
Cloudy orange-yellow color
Bready, citrus smell
High carbonation
Medium-light mouthfeel
Sweet fruity peppery taste, a little tartness, some yeast taste, smooth and hides alcohol very well
Overall a very enjoyable beer. Would drink again if it was cheaper. Saw it at Tamuras for $11.99.

Prairie Artisianal Ales (brewed & bottled by Krebs Brewing) "Prairie Hop"
16.9 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, yellow ink jet production code is illegible
$9.99 @ Knightly Spirits, Orlando, FL

Notes via stream of conscious: Haha, I'm an idiot, without having read the label I was expecting a hoppy American beer, but as I poured it I could smell the mineralish Belgian yeast - and lack of bright American hops! I was reminded of La Chouffe Houblon (except that their yeast is so distinct). Massive rocky white head above a slightly hazy golden body (edit: much more cloudy with the yeast pour, and visible yeast remaining at the base of the bottle). Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma: floral, yeasty/mineralish, grainy, earthy/grassy, and mildly fruity (with some citrus/tropical included) and phenolic (I'm not sure how to describe the phenolic side, perhaps a touch clove and plastic-like). The flavor adds in a note of tea, and light chocolate (I wasn't expecting that), as well as subtle spice - or is that the alcohol? - no, probably not, it's 8 % ABV. It has depth and complexity, and remains really rounded and polished. Soft and easy to drink with a medium body and a gently zesty-then-creamy seemingly natural carbonation that's median to slightly-elevated standard. Mildly spicy and dry finish with a sharp fruity edge, grass, and earthy and mineral components to balance. Very nicely done, I think that this is one of those beers that can serve in almost any situation - full of flavor and complex, yet quite drinkable.

50cl bottle. Hazy orange pour with a Belgian ale-style tall white head with good retention. Notes of herbal hops, unripe tropical fruit - mango, papaya, passion fruit - dank cellar, peach, a bit of honey and some farmhouse funk. Medium body and carbonation, with a bitter-sweet hoppy finish.

First had poured from 16.9-oz. bottle, into goblet. Dry-hopping masked saison character a bit, reminding me of a dry-hopped Belgian IPA, but so far, my favorite beer from Prairie Artisan not named "Bomb!"

Gold body with a thin white head.

Nose is somewhat tart and snappy with hops. A malt overtone creeps in here, somewhat surprisingly.

Flavor is smooth with a slight tropical finish. Expected more tartness and hop character.

Mouthfeel is medium and slightly stripping.

Overall, a good quaffable beer. Less complexity than I expected.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a medium golden amber with a big three finger white head and active carbonation and lots of lacing. Aroma of saison yeast, light grainy and biscuit malt, lemon citrus and citrus hops. Flavor is dry grainy farmhouse malt, moderate funky yeast, lemon and orange citrus with an interesting light stone or tropical fruit flavor developing just before a dry, lightly funky finish with light citrus hops and a hint of camphor or mint. Medium bodied with sharp peppery carbonation. A nicely made dry saison, the hops seem subdued or are subsumed into the bone dry funky farmhouse yeast flavors. The subtle fruit flavors in the finish are what kept me sipping on this. It's a bit dry for my taste, and to its credit still was freshing, interesting and enjoyable.

Look - a rich golden orange color that has a slight haziness to it (the second pour was super hazy). It poured with a gigantic white head that was super creamy and loaded with bubbles of all sizes.
Smell - a lot of hop characteristics: juicy citrus and pine resin. There are also some pepper and peach notes along with yeasty mustiness (that horse/hay note).
Taste - the taste is pretty subtle. You get the juicy citrus and pine resin as well as the peppery spices. It finishes very dry with a mix of the juicy citrus hop notes and musty barnyard yeast.
Feel - surprisingly creamy, even though it finishes very dry. There's a lot of carbonation, and the body seems about right for the style.
Overall, this is definitely a solid hop-forward Saison that blends these two different flavors quite nicely. I would like more of a pronounced taste, but I think the body and mouthfeel are pretty spot on.

Bottle from Florida
Just a touch of hazy in a light golden color with a huge frothy bone white head that shows great retention. Aromas of light earthy funk with bits of sweet citrus and caramel. Light bits of metal are a bit distracting. Decent brew.
