Prairie Noir is our bourbon barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. We brew this beer with a huge amount of oats to give it an ever so silky mouth feel. Notes of coffee, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow can be found in the flavor and aroma of this beer. Notes of whiskey and carmel are also packed into this beer.

Appearance - The beer poured a deep black color with a dark mocha colored head.
Smell - The nose was lightly boozy with some hints of chocolate.
Taste - My first impression was of deep mapley chocolate. The sweetness of marshmallow hints seem to follow. With the chocolate comes a slightly warm aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - The full body and low carbonation allows the sweet warmness to linger.
Overall - Prairie impresses once again.

Pitch black with no head.
Chocolate, bananas, cocoa, black liquorice.
The taste is relatively sweet, hints of vanilla and bourbon, coffee, and chocolate.
Very light and slick body. Very little carbonation.
I had this one age for 4 years in Ontario. Really great taste and mouthfeel. Enjoying in New Hamburg Nov 18, 2022.

This smells like bourbon. Just wood, booze and just a little beery malt far into the depths of the bottle.
Huge coffee flavor up front with just a little of the wood and bourbon in the background.
It's full bodied and silky smooth with a small amount of bubbles. The finish is dry and bitter, leaving a little breathy alcohol.
This is a really rich beer. A nice imperial stout. I give it a 5.4 out of 6.

Very good head production and excellent retention given the ABV and barrel aging.
Huge rich aroma, with notes of chocolate, espresso, red grape, brown sugar, cream, oak, and whiskey mash.
The whiskey notes are a touch sharp, but the overall flavor is rich and wonderful, improving as it warms. Strong notes of espresso, brown sugar, whiskey, and chocolate, along with toast, toffee, oak, and molasses. A really wonderful barrel aged stout.

Black with a thin brown lace.
Bourbon and chocolate.
Simple, doesn't stray from the nose. Something marshmallow/vanilla to it, compliments the chocolate and bourbon. No burn, not bitter but a lightly caramel finish. Need better for the price point but it's got deep flavor.
Appropriate dense, not novelty dense.

Prairie does a great job with its stouts and this one hits the spot. I am a big fan of their Christmas bomb and the Noir dies not disappoint. It may be a bit boozy up front but it delivers big with notes of caramel, whiskey, chocolate and roasted malt. Definitely a winner!

I drank this beer as I took down the Christmas tree for the year.
Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Very dark brown color with a nice brown head and great lacing. Chocolate and whiskey smell and taste. Smooth, rich feel. As usual, a very enjoyable imperial stout from this brewery. I love consistency!

Just got this bottle which was packaged 11-11-2019, so just north of a year in the bottle at opening.
Overall, a solid beer. Prairie knows their way around a ba stout. I do think they do better with heavily flavored stouts but this is an enjoyable example for sure
Pitch black beer with just a faint whisp of persistent tan foam.
Nose has licorice and black cherry on top of heavy roasty malts.
Taste hits a nice big molasses and bitter chocolate note right out the gate. As you settle into the glass there's some tobacco and leather notes as well as a touch of vanilla or marshmallow smoothing things out a bit. Bourbon is there on the aftertaste for sure.
Mouth feel is thick and a little syrupy. Not out of line for the style, but I've had better.
