look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 1.75 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 2

Appearance: pours a dull straw yellow color. one finger plus of a bubbly white head that fades quickly and leaves nothing behind. Perfectly clear

Smell: tropical fruit juice, white grapes and wine yeast. some tart tropical fruits.

Taste: opens with lots of white grape and vinous character. lots of earthy, leathery brett notes. ends full of grass and slight fruit.

Mouthfeel: super dry but with a strong carbonation. leaves earthiness behind

Overall: smells pretty good but tastes nothing like it in a very bad way. I found this beer very hard to drink due to the harsh earthy acidic flavor and bad dry aftertaste.

Bottle to Bruery Tulip. Reviewed live.

A - Pours a very hazy straw yellow. Huge 3 fingers of fluffy eggshell head on top, which regresses into a half inch pillow after a few minutes. Splotchy lacing around the glass.

S - First thing that hits is yeast. The Nelson hops are definitely very present with the typical white grape skin and tropical flavors. Something else is present, but I can't quite put my finger on it. It smells... Spicy? Everything is in unison and it's really nice.

T - Starts the same as the nose: Bretty funk up front in the form of a bit of Band-Aid. Pineapple follows along with grape and clean malt. A bit biscuity, but this is not at all about the malt. This is a showcase of Brett and Nelson. It works well.

M - Good deal of carbonation. It's thin, but not watery. Mouth is left with a bit of coating and lots of Nelson on the tongue.

O - Really good beer. Nice use of Nelson hops, and the Brett plays off of them well. Tropical and refreshing, it's like a not-so-tart Berliner.
