Poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy pale yellow color with a finger's worth of foamy white head that concaved nicely to allow a slight wisp of a little white semi-sticky lace running here and there.
The aroma had some sweet herbal to white bready and Belgian yeasty character playing with a little bit of mint then some basement funk and touch of vinous sweetness. Light grassiness at the very end. Nice lemon freshness came out as it warmed.
The flavor was moderately sweet flowing through the prior mentioned aromas and touching down on a mild vinous sour edge. Subtle crisp funk popping a little bit of citrus peel seemed to come in nicely. Aftertaste was mainly sweet through a blend of some funk, white wine, mint, herbal character and grassiness.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt as projected. The finish was very nice - it's herbal and sweet with some bready and grassy notes and a super faint white grape (not so much white wine, seemed to be more white grape).
Overall, an absolutely wonderful saison by Prairie well worthy of having again.

bottle dated 10-07-16. Poured from bottle into NB chalice, nice 2 - 3 finger cream colored head, nice retention and nice lacing. Hazy bright yellow in the glass, some visible yeast. Smells of white wine must, grassy herbal hops, along with slight fruity esters (as it sits and warms, it becomes a little more funky). Taste initially minerally white wine, spicy pepper, clean malt background, middle has some stone fruit, more pepper (throughout the sip), and finish is on the crisp dry side. Man and to think I only picked up one of these. Great beer, good mouthfeel, no lingering aftertaste, just a slight tingle on the tongue.

Gold, slightly translucent ale. Funky, slightly fruity, heavy herbacious scent - like oregano or spices. Smell is incredible and sticks out more than anything. Clear drinking, light ale, almost pilsner-like taste. Warming to the pallet, smooth alcohol hidden within. Some fruit in the foreground with a minor yeasty taste. Clean as hell finish, leaving a light residue of fruity resin. So good on tap.

A: Poured into a tulip glass to a slightly hazy light gold topped by a dense three finger white head that retains well and leaves decent lacing.
S: Smells of spicy yeast, grassy hop notes, slight notes that remind me of a chardonnay, and a little cracker like malt
T: Taste is grassy and spicy with some light fruitiness, slight tartness as well along with some white grape juice notes. Swallow is more white grapes, grassy hops and spicy yeast with a little more fruitiness.
M: This beer has a moderate mouthfeel that is slightly creamy with soft carbonation and a dry finish.
O: Overall this is a really nice beer with some good flavors and some nice complexity. Well crafted and a decent benchmark for the style. One to try if you like this kind of beer.

L: Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass. Had an orange-yellow color and an extremely cloudy consistency. There was an inch of foamy, very long-lasting head. Sparse lacing, though.

S: Had an aroma of yeast, hops, light fruit, a light vinous quality, and some spices.

T: Tasted of some light tropical fruits (melon), white wine grapes, some spices (pepper), a moderate amount of hops, brettanomyces, and a bit of yeast. This is a very interesting flavor, with the inclusion of the grapes and hops. Not quite as aggressive as some saison flavors, but still quite tasty.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: While this isn't my favorite Prairie beer, it's still incredibly drinkable. Well made and solid.

i know that i am a sucker for nelson hops, so i was always going to like this one, but its really darn good, one of the better prairie beers i have had of late, wish it didnt take me so long to finally get around to trying this one. clearer than expected for a wild beer, and somewhat less heady from the tap. but a nice pale golden color and some bubbles in my snifter glass. aroma here is nelson all day, and if you are familiar with this hop, the nose will be immediately recognizable. some fruity funk to this as well from the brett, a light wheat malt waft, and a white wine grape thing too. i really like the grassy aspect they have developed in the flavor with the hops, its all the tropical distinct goodness, but there is more too it, almost a european bent, a side of nelson i have not known before, and i think thats rad! white wine and bretty funk all the way with the nelson, and a really simple malt base that doesnt add a whole lot of flavor i dont think. soft notes of melon and dandelion to this, kiwi fruit and some light woodiness, straw, and citrus zest. tons of brett, a little tartness too. its all very cohesive and easy drinking, but i wish it had a little more carbonation, its there but if this were at an effervescent level it would make it that much better, at least for me. another winner from prairie, i tend to like their saison styles more than anything else they do, and this is one of their best!

I’ve had this Saison many times. It has a distinct and unique flavor profile that surprises you every time, and yet is very drinkable. It is one of my favorites.

Prairie Artisan Ales make a lot of good beer.

Look: semi-clear golden yellow hue with a two-inch frothy white head.

Aroma: grassy, citrus, some funk and pepper

Taste: There's cracker/wheat and lots of fruit, citrus, pineapple, banana, grapefruit, as well as brett funkiness but not too much, and some pepper.

Feel: medium body and it's juicy and fresh tasting.
