Pours a deep black with a creamy head reminiscent of a root beer float. Smells unlike any other beer I've had. Smokey, hoppy, grainy, malty spice, with fruit and licorice thrown in. Sounds crazy, but the smell reminds me of an old pharmacy from my childhood. Coffee, citrus and hops are heavy, with a woody quality. Nice bitterness. Medium mouth. This wouldn't be my everyday beer, but it is excellently unique.

Poured from bottle at churchkey in DC into tulip. Deep black with a finger of tan head and lacing. Huuuge brett aromas on this with a bit of hop aroma. Taste is just super bretty...funky with a big bitter dose of fruity hop and roasted black malt. Its all so intense that the flavors work really well together. Its very funky very hoppy and pretty roasty.
Nice a dry and a bit bitter finish. Really awesome as always...deff get one if you like over the top brett.

Had this on 2013-12-26 in Columbia, PA

A - Moderately opaque darker brown with a massive 3-finger tan head that fades to 1-finger pretty quickly but leaves significant lacing.

S - Spicy hops, mint, grass, cherry blossoms, barnyard. Fresh smelling; like a spring day in a field by the barn.

T - Dark roasted malt that is slightly charred, semi-sweet chocolate, grassy, funk from the brett strains, overly-ripe black cherries, mint, citrus tartness, fresh hop buds and bitterness from the Galaxy hops that is (to me) a bit much for a saison and which somewhat conflicts with the roasty/char flavor. Never had a black saison before. I appreciate the new flavor combinations but whether it is a black IPA or black saison, it's really tough to balance lots of hop flavor/bitterness with char.

M - Light body and medium carbonation. Watery. I would have preferred a thicker feel.

O - Kudos to Prairie for coming up with a beer that doesn't smell or taste like anything I've had before. It won't be a staple at my house but I'm intrigued to try more brews from Prairie.

A - Pours coffee black with a two finger khaki head with great retention/lacing.

S - Earth, hay and citrus notes.

T - Mild citrus tartness starts off and it develops into a malty backbone with cocoa powder.

M - Light bodied and high carbonation. It has a dry finish to it.

O - This would probably work good if it wasn't a black saison. I just don't think the galaxy hops mix well with it.
