A collaboration Sour Farmhouse Ale from Prairie and Saint Somewhere. Poured from a corked and caged bottle into a d'Achouffe tulip. Good thing the cork was caged, the moment I removed the cage the cork slowly started to unplug itself until it succeeded with a deafening report. The pour is very clear and deep gold in color. It sports a big white head that quickly dissipates (not surprising given the acidity). The nose is gueuze-like. There are notes of apples, champagne, vinegar, and a faint touch of barnyard funk.

The beer has a light-medium body and a strong tart flavor. Very acidic. The sour flavor completely dominates the beer and overwhelms any herbal qualities one expects in a Saison. There is also a slight lactic note on the finish that is just a bit unpleasant. Still, the beer finishes with a nice puckeriness that dries the mouth and leaves you salivating for more. Very refreshing, though not extremely drinkable.

Fans of Saisons may want to rethink trying this, but fans of sour beers and gueuze should definitely give this a go. It drinks more like an American Wild Ale than a Farmhouse Ale. Prairie Gold is a much better Sour Saison in my opinion.

On tap at When Pigs Fly. In a snifter the beer was gold in color with a small white head.

Aroma was floral and earthy, with some citrus.

A blast of tartness. Orange peel. Earthy.

Pleasant tart mouthfeel. Makes me want more.

I'm liking this brewery.

Hazy gold to light brown with a quarter inch beige head. Little light will get through this. Aroma of tart Brett is what I detect in the nose. The taste is tast Brett with a sour cherry aftertaste. The mouth is moderately carbonated, crisp, and dry.

Pours glowing burnt orange with a nice amount of sediment. Aromas of citrus fruits, cherries, grapes and a musty basement. Taste is the same with a touch of straw on the end . . . Slightly sour, slightly. Feel is smooth, medium and carbonation fades fast once poured. Good beer.
