Received a 12 oz bottle from a trade with former BA @BMBCLT 1-14-23. Not sure what vintage.
Beer poured dark brown with a thin wispy off-white head.
Nose is nice, notes of cola and nuts with a faint touch of whiskey.
Taste is very well balanced as the large malt base gives notes of toast and nuts. Barrel cuts into the malt base and gives a slant of Crown Royal which leads to a very balanced finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth.
Overall this is a bit of a unique beer and a nice change from BBA Stouts. I like the toast and nuts slant!

12oz bottle at share. Clear brown pour with a thin cap of off-white head. Malty, nutty aroma, cocoa. Taste adds alcohol warmth to the rich malty brew, nutty, woody.

Look: muddy musket brown color. Lots of sediment. No head or lacing
Smell: yeasty, boozy, sweet malt, oak, and bourbon
Taste: very sweet, too sweet for my liking but nevertheless a good beer. Fairly boozy and bourbon/oaky. Leaves the palate fairly quickly other than the bourbon notes
Feel: fairly thin, basically no carbonation. Smooth

Look: Dark, muddy brown. Half a finger of fizzy tan head that quickly dissipates.
Smell: Definite oak, sweet malt, and bourbon.
Taste: Sweet bourbon, a bit of dark chocolate, mild earthiness. No real bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Milk-like creaminess with mild carbonation.
Overall: An excellent beer with hearty complexity.

To describe this beer as "thin" would be an understatement. This beer pours on Monday like the can of soda you left in your car on Friday. The aroma is definitely "booze forward," with a slightly sweeter whiskey profile I would compare to Jim Beam and licorice. The taste is very much the same, which I don't necessarily classify as a bad thing; in fact, it's pretty good. The mouthfeel is odd, to the point where you will wonder if the cap was always slightly ajar, but I'm also left wondering, "How important is that, really?"
As someone who gladly drinks sodas at room temperature, while still acknowledging chilled is best, this beer will still do the trick. A chilled, carbonated Best Choice Cola is still inferior to a room temperature Coke, and I feel like that is the case here: there's definitely a lot of room for improvement, but the product itself is quality.

This bottle is very old. First batch ever, I think. 2012-ish?
Pour is a little flat, but again it's old and also it's high ABV. Dark brown, minimal head.
It smells thick, sweet, and boozy. Caramel, brown sugar, and whiskey. Intense but inviting.
Flavor is smooth up front, nicely rough in the back. Maple reigns throughout. Sweet malt and syrup up front, dense brown barley in the middle, and more sweetness on the end and finish. Borderline cloying--this probably would have been better younger, with more pronounced hops. But still nicely crafted
