A: Poured into a snifter to a deep black topped by a finger and a half of dense tan head that fades slowly to a small pool with some lacing
S: Smells of light cereal grains with a hint of cocoa powder and roasted malts. Very light wine barrel if you sniff it long enough
T: Taste is fairly wine barrel forward with some berries and tannins. It blends well with the roasted malts and chocolate. Slight tart cherry like note on the palate. Swallow is more wine barrel, berries and tanins with some lingering cocoa powder
M: This beer has a mouthfeel that is surprisingly light for the abv sitting at around moderate heft. Carbonation is a little more than I would like and is fairly prickly which likely contributes to the thin mouthfeel. The beer has a semidry finish as well.
O: Overall after shaking out some carbonation this one is really nice. The wine barrels provide some nice complexity to the base beer that makes this one a bit different from most beers. Very enjoyable but you have to be open to the wine barrel notes.

12 oz bottle. Didn't know what to expect from this one. Red wine was definitely present, but not overly strong, possibly due to the bottle sitting for over a year. Well done, nice twist, everyone enjoyed it.

Big wine presence as expected. A lot of grape skin and dark grape sweetness. It does finish a bit dry like red wine too. Not my favorite prairie, a double barrel with this as a compliment would be better. But still a good beer.
