Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a hazy, medium coppery amber with a three finger white head that is somewhat fizzy and dissipates to a thick cap with nice lacing. Aroma of grainy malt, light orange and apple, brett yeast. Flavor is husky, grainy malt, brett, apple and mild mixed stone and citrus, lightly tart then drying out into a husky, bretty finish. Medium bodied with sharp, peppery carbonation. A very nice, rustic saison with good graininess to the malt, almost aggressive brett yeast and lighter, but interesting fruit notes. This is a little brettier and drier than I usually like, but to its credit, the other flavors support the yeast. I thought it was a little light on grainy malt in the finish at first, but as I drank my glass, the finish became my favorite part. A well made saison from a brewery that I hope to see again.

A: Orange, slightly hazy pour with a medium-tall light but still thick white head. Only some lacings.

S: Stable; yeast and hay. Some roasted bready malty notes. But spices and yeast dominates. Perhaps even some brett in the back. Smells complex and nice. Fruityness is rich.

T: Dry, yeasty and spicy. Fruits are mainly represented by ripe oranges and red apples. A little sour, but the hint of brett from the smell is gone. Rich maltyness.

M: Aftertaste is at first sour, but as time goes it turns drier and more bitter - lovely. Body is rather full for this style while carbonation is held back.

O: Not bad, not bad at all. Holds everything it should.

Pour is cloudy murky brown with a tight off white head. Nose offers light amount of caramel malt and a hint of roasted nut, there is a very nice assertive farmhouse yeast, tons of white peppery spice, and a touch dusty and a lemon cream. Taste follows suit, caramel and nutty malt with strong amounts of farmhouse yeast, spice, and faint dustiness. There is a lemon cream aspect that carries through with the body, very light carbonation and a touch dry in the finish. Lingering cream in the taste and on the palate.

an older bottle from january 2015, some three years old now, but like a lot of their stuff, it has aged extremely well, whether intentionally or not, the bottle says best by sometime in 2021, so awesome! i loved it, but i love all the beer these guys make, i really do! this one is a little darker than i was anticipating, definitely a bit more heft to the grain base than a lot of these have, maybe some richer barley to it, and it definitely has the body to match the color, fuller and smooth, it might even feel a little heavy if this didnt finish so dry and so positively effervescent in feel. there is a great funk to this, lightly tart but very bretty and interesting, not the same old, but truly wild, and that is what has made me such a big fan of the beers they make, even in simpler styles like this the beers are interesting because their fermentation profile is always curious, so mature now, spicy like black pepper and even annatto or something, floral a little bit, lemony too, zesty, farmy and musty, all from the yeast, real compelling to me. a little more acidic as it warms, and i like the bigger grain base, its not malty in a traditional sense, but its more substantial, its smart, a great vehicle for the yeasts. carbonation is dead sexy, almost gushing, well conditioned in the bottle, its perfect for the style and lightens it up some. spices come back on the finish, this brett is crazy. overall maybe a little more raw than some of these have been from brekeriet, a tad less cohesive, but equally distinct and tasty, i want my wild beer to be wild, and this surely is! underappreciated here i would say...

This is a great saison. It´s full of flavour, fresh and perfect for a summer´s evening. Nice one inch head after pouring, orange and a touch hazy appearance
Taste is malty, fresh fruit, appleish and brett backbone.
Aftertase is sour lemony, nuts and creamy.
Mouthfeel is full and well rounded.
Good carbonation, not overdone

My new favourite and as good (if not as complex) as the few Hill Farmstead that I´ve been lucky enough to try.

Refreshing saison, little bit tart.
