Had a couple cans of this at Wild Salsa in Fairview, TX. I love the old school pop top on the can. I can honestly say this is the first one of these I have had. It serves two purposes: easy to open, and allows one to consume the beverage straight from the can while benefitting from the ability to proper smell the beverage. Sure, pouring into a glass would kick start the carbonation and allow more aromas to permeate, but in an emergency, vesselless situation, this would work.

Nice and hoppy on the aroma, but this one had a little too much malt character for me. It was kind of sweet and heavy. I would find this tough to drink in warm weather, making it hard to stomach in Texas for a majority of the year. No major flaws but not a crushable beer, one that needs to be sipped in cooler weather, and one that probably is not consumable in large quantities.

All in all, not a bad IPA. Very bitter after taste which I liked. Fort Worth, TX. Feb 2017

Big hop taste, but lacks aroma qualities. Overall, a good example of its style, but defiantly not the best. The brewery is cool, and a good place to catch a cowboys game - indoor and outdoor seating, with a great view of the brewery operation. They have around nine of their brews on tap.

12 ounce can with a unique pull-top lid. On to the beer:

Semi-creamy head rests above this lightly toasted orange beer. A few whips of lace stick around the glass. El Chingon smells like an IPA who's hops have decayed. I smell sap, resin, and vague bitter grapefruit. Not surprising, it tastes like a faded West Coast IPA. It's resiny with touches of toasted caramel and bitter grapefruit, running through a medium/full body. The can I drank was two months old, so I was surprised to taste something which I associate with double the age. As it is, it still remains a decent beer.

Serving type: 12 oz pop top can into a pint glass

Pours a clear orange amber color. Smells of earthy hops, pine hops, and slight honey/caramel malts. Taste reflects the smell. Initial pine like and earthy hop flavors lead into a honeydew melon and caramel malt flavor. Very balanced flavors. Mouthfeel is slick and amply carbonated which fits the flavor profile well! Overall, this is a pretty good IPA with a different hop presence that make this pleasant to drink.

Pale golden color with think, light-khaki head that persists well into the session.

Smell is pretty well balanced of earthy, piney hops and bready malts. Nothing is too dominant, and there is a little fruitiness in the middle.

Taste is once again led by the floral and earthy hops, taste like pine and bread throughout. Well balanced in my opinion. The malts are very present in the flavor, but cannot overcome the bitterness.

Feel is pretty full for an IPA, well into the medium range. Kind of chewy, but not too sticky.

Overall, this is a really decent IPA. Pretty big ABV is well hidden, and its very drinkable while still presenting some rich hop character. People who like their IPAs extra dank/fruity or just bitter as hell might not care for this, but for someone who likes a more traditional representation this is very solid.
