draught
Light brown thick head. Cloudy black color. Heady molasses with roasty note, aroma. Medium bodied. Tastes like a Baltic Porter without the extra alcohol. Not too sweet with a very slight roasted grain flavor.

Cold tonight? Get you one of these!

I'm no expert on this style, but it seems a good solid choice! On tap at engine house #9... Last day of our PNW trip to see Jordyn and Hannah!

$ 12.77 (Including shipping)/waxed capped 22 oz bottle ($ 0.580/oz) from Tavour, Seattle, WA.
Ink-stamped above the label on the shoulder and barely visible is “12/06/17”, stored at 42 degrees and served at 55 degrees in a hand-washed and hand-dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.5.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque, slight effervescence. When held to the light, still opaque.
Head – Average (Maximum three cm, aggressive center pour), brown, high density rapidly swinging into low density, fizzy, gone seconds after the end of the pour, leaving no ring and no layer.
Lacing – None.
First pour – Medium brown, clear.
Aroma – 3.5 – Sweet and malty but not very strong.
Flavor – 4.25 – Less sweet than the nose implies but still not bitter. Begins with caramel, toffee, and just a hint of diacetyl. Ends with just a ghost of cherry floating by. No hops, no alcohol (10% ABV), no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 4 – Full, creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and summation – 4.25 - The label is marked “2018” so I assume (!) that the “12/06/17” is a bottling date, not a “Best by” date. The rapid head decay is possibly due to the short plateau border of the initially tiny bubbles and the high viscosity of the brew. Otherwise, the appearance is darker and more opaque than most other wee heavies I have consumed, probably due to the proportion of black malt used. The subdued aroma, while pleasant, was somewhat weaker than expected. The flavor is good, with the surprise cherry ending (real or imagined) being the perfect topping. The mouthfeel was fuller than most wee heavies, being full rather than medium. Overall, a good representation of a wee heavy.

A grand ale in the traditional style of Scottish Ales. Though seasonal...this is usually available in their Public House in Downtown Vancouver, Washington
