Dark amber brown in the tulip glass. Hot with alcohol, but in a pleasant way like a liqueur.

Really a sweet beer with a strong fruity flavor. So flavorful, though. It's a full meal, or at least a dessert. Supposed to be half and half aged in bourbon barrels. Really malty and oily, and thick with substance. A bright mango flavor is the main malty taste. Some hops provide the bitter background. Fairly sharp in the mouth with a tang of cherry pie and balsamic vinegar.

Quite intriguing and one of the best really strong beers I've had this year. On tap at Amplified Ale Works at its California Kebab home in Pacific Beach.

A west-coast quad with dark fruit, hop-forward (floral), and alcoholic.
