Whew this one was just a little off for me. It was brewed with ghost peppers. I just normally don't enjoy pepper stouts and this one was a even more out of balance than I expected it to be.

on-tap at the brewery poured into the Lone Pint nonic
(consumed Saturday, June 18, 2016)

L: black-brown, tan head, sticky at the top, nice collar; no major lacing but a constant collar and half skin; lots of activity; orange around edges up to sunlight

S: sweet with floral/citrus (orange) hops; bready malt; dark chocolate-orange pie ... sweet with some pie crust; the darker malt notes give it a West Coast imperial stout-like aroma

T: bitter up front, roasty, char-wood that sweetens out on the end; the hops do bite bitter, but there might be some dark-malt bitterness, too; licorice; chilis start showing up about 2/5 into the glass, very earthy bitterness heating up from the peppers ... it's a nice smooth little warmth that builds nicely

F: fantastic ... light and full from carbonation, perhaps even over-carbonated for some palates (not mine), gives it a Belgian quad-like feel

O: very roasty, hoppy brew with that Lone Pint touch of infusing a lot of hop flavor without pushing in too much hop bitterness; the dark chocolate-orange mix is nice, and the chilis are deftly used -- when they show up, there's no denying it, yet they never scorch your throat or ruin your palate.

great brew!

Looks like a stout with no head and creamy lacing. Faint malty smell. Really like the peppers on this one. Balance between heat and flavor. Medium to full mouthfeel and my lips are burning.

Had on tap at Bearded Monk in Denton. Nice and dark in color, pleasant chocolatey porter nose and taste. Mouthfeel is nice, leaving malty aftertaste. Was a little disjointed that the pepper taste was so incredibly subtle, I hardly noticed it at all. If it wasn't listed listed in the tap description I may have overlooked that flavor aspect. But YMMV since it takes a lot of heat to get spicy recognition from my taste buds.

Had it on tap at the brewery served in a tall snifter. Very dark brown color with a nice brown head and lacing. Nice coffee and dark chocolate smell and taste. The ghost chilli sneaks up on you at the end. Distinct but not overbearing. Nice beer, goes great with Cajun food!

Nice look with a creamy khaki head, and the mouthfeel was really round and creamy too. The heat started showing up as the beer warmed. The beer felt like a session version of Prairie Bomb! so that's cool. Very enjoyable.
