473 mL can from the LCBO; no packaging date. I am genuinely pumped to finally try what is almost certainly one of Ontario's most-hyped IPAs of the last two years. Served slightly chilled.
Pours translucent golden-blonde, with approximately one finger of soapy, resilient white head that holds down the fort for more than five minutes; a fat collar and bubbly cap of foam are its descendants. Fantastic lacing - I want to drink this one ASAP, but I need to say something about the aroma first, which is actually fairly muted, especially considering the name of the beer. A citrusy mix of grapefruit, lemon and orange is the most noticeable aspect to me, with minor notes of grassy hay, pale malt, red berry and indistinct tropical fruit.
Very good stuff - there's some underlying gritty wheat and bready pale malt sweetness, but beyond that it's basically hops gone wild from start to finish. Fruity flavours of apricot, orange, melon, grapefruit and papaya come through mid-sip, with the hops kicking into high gear on the back end - that's where the bitter elements such as citrus pith, earthy/dank pine needles and floral, grassy hay really begin to assert themselves. Medium-light body, with fairly lively carbonation that tickles the palate, as well as very fine bubbles (resulting in a mildly crisp, frothy sort of mouthfeel). Good drinkability at 6.5% - I could knock back a couple of these over the course of a night, though I'm sure I'd be a bit wobbly afterwards.
Final Grade: 4.23, an A-. Beyond the Pale's Aromatherapy is a fantastic IPA that I will certainly return to in the future. I tried this beside a can of GLB's Lake Effect - which is one of my top 3 Ontario IPAs - for comparative purposes, and Aromatherapy held up very admirably. All hopheads who can find this one should consider it to be an absolute must-try beer... unfortunately, I've never seen this one in Lambton county, otherwise I'd definitely pick it up regularly.

Can: Poured a hazy pale yellow color ale with a small foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of citrusy and floral hoppy notes with light grassy undertones. Taste is also dominated by floral grassy notes with some citrusy and light piney notes with light bitter aftertaste. Body is pretty full for style with OK carbonation. Pretty interesting but falls a bit short on carbonation.

Pours cloudy straw with a frothy, long lasting head. Huge fruity, floral aroma explodes from the glass as I pour this. Tropical fruit, peach, pineapple, canteloupe, and lavender hops in the bitter hop dominated taste. A light cracker maltiness lies in the background, barely balancing the hops. Light bodied with high but smooth carbonation. Delicious tropical fruitiness and a mouthcoating bitterness in the infinite finish.
Wow, a fantastic Ontario IPA. Possibly my favourite yet. Unbridled hoppiness but not brash or over the top. A must try.

This is a really damn good IPA, not quite heady topper, but very 'juicy'.
Surprising amount of yeast sediment in the can, contributes to a hazy straw appearance.
Big citrus aroma (tangerine?), flavour rounded out with tropical fruit and hints of piny resin.

Golden pour, large pillowy head, good lacing. Resiny aroma, grapefruit, citrus, grass, tropical fruit. Juciy citrus up front, pine resin, tropical fruit, biscuit malt. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Probably the best beer being brewed in our nations capital.

A - Light cloudiness, closer to haze. Nice yellow/golden colour with good carbonation. Pillowy white head of one finger on top. Good lace rings and a film of retention.
S - Lot's of fruit. Sweet sugary fruits. Very tropical. Bubblegum. Mostly sweet citrus. Seems like there might be some Nelson Sauvin in there too.
T - Candy, bubblegum, grain, lot's of tropical notes. Grapefruit to finish with lot's of tropical notes as well that stick around for a good amount of time.
M - Bitterness is there but not too aggressive. Carbonation is good, right around medium. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth and medium.
O/D - A fairly solid IPA from the BTP kids. This one is highly drinkable and packed with flavour. Kiwi hops do a good job of making the depth in this one carry for a while and keep you paying attention throughout the growler. Good job.

Poured from a freshly filled growler.
Pours a golden color with an orange hue and a slight haze with 2-3 fingers of cloudy head falling to a thick creamy collar and leaving nice lacing (and that is from the second pour from the growler!). It packs a nice, clean fresh nose of sweet citrus and wiffs of pine. The taste is is loaded with citrus (oranges, tangerines and grapefruit) with some nice tropical notes (papayas?) balanced with a nice, light toasted malt backbone. The finish is mildly bitter with and a little short. It is light yet round on the palate and highly drinkable. Overall, this is a great IPA and definitely one of their best offerings!

Hazy golden colour, 1.5 fingers of white head and good lace. Smell is dank and piney, light citrus, fruit and yard trimmings, some peach. Taste is hoppy, medium bitterness, lemony citrus and fruity, dank earthy notes, dry with a slight malt mid palate. lightly carbonated and medium bodied. Quite nice, a solid IPA worth trying.

I've now had this twice -- once in a 20 ounce pour (Canadian draft standard, it seems) at an Indian restaurant and once from a 473 ml can. It was excellent both times, though I may have slightly preferred it from the can. It was hazy with a tasty lemon bitterness. It smelled great (citrus) as well. The can was about 20 to 25% costlier than most local craft beer even though I bought it at the LCBO.
