ISG is the granddaddy of our Rye Guy IPA. More grain! More hops! The result is an incredibly flavourful, yet balanced Imperial IPA. There is a big malt flavour up front which presents in the form of rich caramel and serves to balance the high bitterness of a beer weighing in at 90 IBUs. The result is a nice, lingering, spicy taste on the tongue. And at 9.1% ABV, this is definitely going to make you super!

A:
Clearish amber-gold with three fingers of super thick moussy cream-colored head that slowly dissipates to a satisfying little pancake. Spiderweb lacing. (4.25)

S:
Over-ripe mango, canteloupe, spicy herbs, sugar cookies, guava. Lordy! (4.25)

T:
Even mineraly bitter with some fruitiness and a slight vegetal character, herbal hops, dank/malty finish. (4)

M:
Crisp, refreshing, medium body, barely-there alcohol, lingering shellac finish. (4)

O:
Very nice beer.
It looks like old iced tea with head and is pretty nice all around. It is hoppy with a good malt presence. As it warms it gets maltier and maltier and on the whole I think everything could use to 'pop' a little more.
Very tasty regardless, I would drink another without hesitation if I had one. Worth a try if you come across it. (4)

Hazed copper amber colour, one finger of off white head, some lace. Smell is hoppy, lots of orange and grapefruit with a sweet malty backbone. Taste is also quite hoppy, orange and citrus flavours with some sugar dusted grapefruit and sweet malt, drier in the finish, fairly bitter throughout, fruity aftertaste. Lightly carbonated, medium full body. Decent, a solid effort worth trying.

Old school bitterness, reminds me of Dogfish 90 or 3 Floyds Bohemouth Blond.

Pretty heavy on the malt, lots of toffee, but a nice breadyness too. There's a bold bitter/sweet/booze balance.

Loved their IPA... Sometimes bigger isn't better.

Disappointing. Too much malt for me and created imbalance.

Growler: Poured a clear amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of citrusy and bitter hops notes is enjoyable. Taste is mostly dominated by citrusy bitter and dry hops with some light spicy rye notes and some dry caramel malt also noticeable. Body is about average withy good carbonation. Enjoyable even though I was try to cut back on the bitter finale.

32 oz growler from the bottle shop. Opened with a pop after a month.

A deep golden amber colour with a slight hazy. Half an inch of light beige head consisting of bubbles of various
sizes. Good carbonation that lasted to the end. Thick lacing with very good retention.

A strong sharp citrus aroma. Grapefruit and lemon.

An intense hops taste. Citrus at first then more piney and fading into the taste of the rye. The rye base works very well
without being harsh. A sweet bread malt taste is present too. The bit of alcohol taste works well
with the rye. A long strong bitter grassy aftertaste.

Medium to heavy feel. Oily. It coats the mouth.

This is definitely imperial. Strong all round.

ISG's got a great look to it. Golden clear with a little head. Smell is crisp - hoppy and piney with a touch of rye. Taste is very similar to the nose, crisp and hoppy with a little sweetness to take some of the edge off. Carbonation is a little low but probably by design. Overall, it's a little hoppy to my taste to have multiple of these in a sitting, but it's a great crisp beer for 1-2 for a 1-2 beer session, or to mix up a longer session.

Appearance: It has a nice deep hazy golden/orange color to it. It has a nice thick off-white head that dies down very slowly and leaves lovely lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of citrus, pine resins, grassy hops, some rye and sweet caramelly malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some citrus, bitter pines resins, some grassy/earthy notes, rye and sweet caramelly malts.

Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas. I wish there was more aromatic hops present rather than this bitter hop bomb but there's nothing wrong with a bitter hop bomb either, that's just my opinion. It's still a good DIPA nevertheless.
