It pours a bright, deep golden body, with a small amount of visible carbonation. Medium white head with some lacing.

It has an aroma of pale malts, grassy hops, fruit and butter, with floral notes.

The taste follows the smell. The finish is dry with floral notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with light bitterness and medium carbonation.

Smooth and very pleasant.

330ml bottle, date stamp puts this at about 3.5 months old, assuming expiration is 1 year out.

Classic. Crisp. Clean. What the hell more do you want here.

Crystal clear yellow body with two fingers of white foam. Some skunkiness in the nose, with berry esters, sweeter czech malts, cracker, and citrus zest. Taste is also very fruity for style, the berry esters especially, with floral and grassy hops helping a bit but the malts are not particularly crisp and still plenty sweet, stopping the chance for a clean finish that the style craves. Also has some metal in there that distracts. Feel is sweet, full, and muddled. Disappointing

Picked up at a gas station. Saw the name, knew this must be the original, let’s give it a whirl. Popping the top I get a zesty malt smell. Pours to a bright yellow with a stiff bright white head. On the taste, this ain’t your daddy’s Budweiser. This is way better like your great-grand-daddy’s Budweiser. Nice malts up front with a silky body and a mostly balanced throughout, leaning towards the malts. I can drink this all day not like that beechwood aged crap. Those idiots must have stole the wrong recipe. This is a really good beer.

330ml bottle, best before 25/02/2019, poured into a tulip.
Look: Clear gold, with about 2.3 cm of fluffy white head. Head sticks around for a while, leaving some sticky lacing down the side of the glass. Looks good.
Smell: Grassy, a little herbal, some bready malts. Pleasant if a little simple.
Taste: Malty, a little bit grassy, bitter note towards the end.
Feel: Lighter bodied, tingly carbonation, decent length of flavour.
Overall: Pretty good example of a classic pilsner.

On draft, pint glass. Clear golden yellow body, one finger white head, nice retention and not much lacing. Fairly bland, watery cereal grain, a bit of sweet malt, very faint earthy and floral notes. Flavour is pretty diminished, watery and without much character to it. Lighter medium body, good carbonation, again fairly watery but certainly drinkable. It's nothing like Pilsner Urquell as far as I can tell.

Bottle from Market of Choice.

A clear light orange with a dense, white head with great retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose has a blend of lemony and mildly skunky hops, with a noticeable bitterness present. There is a light pils-like bready malt note present. The palate opens mildly bitter and mildly skunky, with earth, lemon, skunk, a little lemon resin and a touch of grass. This is followed by a mild pils malt flavor, deep and rich in the way that suggests multiple decoctions. Drying, bitter and mildly resiny on the finish, this beer is light in body and crisply but softly carbonated (think fine bubbles). Solid stuff.

Cerveza de carbonatación media y cuerpo ligero. De su aroma destaca la malta y cereal. Una vez en boca es amargo pero poco agradable. Hay mejores opciones dentro de su precio y estilo.

L- Mid-gold. pours with 1Cm head clearing to lacing.
S- I could smell this as I poured it even at arms length. It has a distinctive and good aroma, slightly toasty. I reckon I could ID this beer blind-folded
T- Gorgeous. It has a good medium body into some malts. The flavour is also distinctive; I'm saying that from the perspective of this being one of my top-5 favourite beers - I could drink this until the cows come home, it's that all-around good and 'sessionable'.
M- Dry on the finish, beautiful balance, it is a very well constructed beer.
O- A fantastic high quality all-rounder. A perfect summer beer. If I'm on a session I'll often start with one of these as it is quite subtle [if you have congestion or are a smoker you might miss out on the intricacies of this beer]. The only thing I'm left wondering is how I've managed to drink 100's of these, but it's only today I realised I've never reviewed it!
BB 28/06/29. %00ml bottle bought from Waitrose, London.

ps. The 'Beer info' in the headers is confusing, it refers to this beer as 'Czechvar'. That is what it is sold as in the US. Reason being Anheuser Busch took the Czech brewery to court to stop them them branding this as Budweiser within the US. (Ironic since it was a member of the Budvar brewery family who emigrated long ago to the US, and started brewing what has now ended up as US Budwesier!
Also, looking through a few pages of reviews below, it seems some people might be mistaking this for the US imposter and hence (obviously) down-rating it. Shame!

Nice golden color. Smells slightly of hops and wheat. It tastes like wheat and malt with a very minor herb or mint like taste. It is very smooth and has a light body. Drinking it is enjoyable and refreshing.

I assume that this is similar to Budvar (if not the same), but the 500 ml can definitely says "Czechvar B:Original".
L - pours a 3 finger foam that drops rapidly to one finger in half a minute. Lacing on side of glass. Foam quickly just covers the beer in 1-1/2 minutes.
S - could not detect any smell at all
T - malty.Saaz hops, not bitter, bready
F - good carbonation, crisp
O - boring, not much character

Label stamped: Best Before 11-01-2018/B1. Pleasant lager aroma, a little faint; bready and a bit of herbal hops. 1/2 inch white head fades quickly, stringy lacing. Bright gold/amber with small carb bubbles. Bready malts with moderate bittering and herbal taste from this hops in the middle and finish. Easy drinking and refreshing, with a bit of mineral giving it a clean finish. Mild taste; could be more assertive.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this lager, billed as "one of the world's best." Unfortunately it was a little disappointing. Tasted very similar to many other European lagers, slightly heavy on the metallic taste with strong notes of malt and biscuit. Smooth finish without much lingering mouthfeel. Easy to drink and only vaguely bitter.

500ml bottle served in a large snifter. Brought to me by a friend after a trip to Poland. Najlepiej Spozyc Przed: 08 10 2018.

Pours a clear golden with a smallish creamy head. Smell is skunky lager.

Taste is sour, bitter, lager. Lemon. Yeast.

Mouthfeel is very dry, very light, and very effervescent. Overall...about what I was expecting. It's not bad.

Had this many times over the years, I have tended to prefer it to Pilsner Urquell for its dryness.

Pours gold, nice head.

metallic, herbal saaz flavour

thinn-ish mouthfeel, nice carb. Drying finish, little bitterness.

Just a very good beer, but for my tastes now I'd like a fair bit more bitternesss and more saaziness :)

Almost as good as pilsner Urquell. It tastes like your typical euro pilsner or lager just a little dialed down in the taste & aroma. Now this is what a real Budweiser should taste like. Cheers! B

Poured from 11.2 fluid ounce green bottle into glass. Label Best By Date is '08.23.18?A1.
Clear, pale gold color body. Minimal head upon pouring settles to thin ring and scattered islands. Spots of lacing here and there.
Bready malt aroma, grassy, mineral/salty.
Bready malt taste, a hint of sweetness, but salty/with mineral taste also. Slight Euro funk taste but this only adds to the overall balance, is not all the way skunky.
Thin to medium, clean mouth feel.
Distinct and different from other Czech lager beers because of the mineral/salty aspect.

Pours a bronzed golden color. Quite effervescent with lots of bubbles coursing upwards. Thin weak white head dissipates steadily leaving no lacing or residual head.

Smell is a blend of grainy malts, sweet honey notes and a very strong mineral aroma - almost metallic - but its closer to the smell of hard water.

Taste has notes of grain, white bread, a touch of sweetness with some herbal grassiness and hint of skunk. You can taste the hard water in this - gives the flavor a very mineral character. Hint of bitterness on the finish but not much.

Feel is interesting. Its reasonably light and drinkable, but the hard water gives it a heft reflective of the hard water. Mild to moderate carbonation - very gentle carbonation.

Overall this is a nice Czech pilsner - hard to know how good this would be fresh, but alas its in green bottles and who nows how fresh so the hops have tailed off and its slightly skunked. Would love to try this fresh in the Czech Republic someday.

The iconic beer, the original, totally different to that American namesake, coming in a large 0.51CL bottle.

On pour get a nice clear golden colour that produces a decent looking white head, that is big and frothy. Head maintains. Some nice carbonation, actively bubbling away.

It is a nice and clear looking beer that’s for sure, what a beer should look like. Promising……..

Lovely beery smell of grains and malted barley. Nice aroma……….

On taste a very beery taste, clean and crisp, strong in alcohol content, can definitely feel the alcohol and yeast in the beer and very smooth to drink.

Perhaps a little too malty for me though

There is a lot of carbonation and I do wonder if the green bottles have something to do with the overall taste, as it tastes ok but a little skunky, and considering its reputation it is nothing amazing.
Very smooth, definitely a session beer as its very drinkable, despite not having an amazing array of tastes. Light in hops, no aftertaste to speak of.

As mentioned, a lot of Malt, it is really malty!

But overall, it is a good session beer, wouldn’t mind downing a few of these, and one I would like to try again for the future, preferably in downtown Prague…..(or Budějovice!) with a fresh version.

330 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 1/6/2018. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a small dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, white bread dough, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, white bread dough, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, white bread dough, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an awesome Czech pilsner! All around great robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the balancing bitter/drying finish. Perfectly executed style example. Never too bitter/drying, and very flavorful for the ABV. Clean pils malt flavors with balancing Saaz hops. A highly enjoyable offering, one of the best I have had in the style.

A solid beer overall, much better than your mainstream euro-lagers such as Heineken, Becks, Carlsberg etc. This one has a bit more character. Pours a nice Golden Yellow colour, a small suddy head, some grassy/Bready notes, and a crisp yet refreshing taste. Overall a Good Beer.

Appearance: Pours a dark amber, somewhat thin head that quickly dissapates to nothing with no collar and no lacing. Loads of medium size bubbles quickly from the bottom of the glass.

Aroma: Phew! This beer has some funk! Upon opening it has a nearly overwhelming scent of skunkiness and funk. Its not bad, but wow does it have some character - certainly curious about whats coming next. Aside from that and breadiness, not much else in the scent.

Mouthfeel: Relatively mild carbonation, light thickness, about what I'd expect but nothing remarkable.

Taste: Definitely more calm than the scent would suggest. A perfect example of a pilsener - but nothing truly extraordinary either. Definitely less skunky tasting than the scent suggests. Overall balanced. Notes of bread, light sweetness, grainy, I taste no hints of fruitiness as other reviewers have suggested though.

Overall: For the cost this would be a very nice sessionable beer, ideal for a hot summer day. Probably an easy "next step" for macro drinkers.

Decanted from a green bottle into a tulip pint glass; best before 09.29.17.
A: Clear golden color with small white head that cleared rapidly.
S: Bitter hops and sea salt predominate.
T: Light maltiness off-set by mild bitterness and salinity.
M: Light to medium bodied; would be more refreshing if not for the persistence of the salinity in the mouth.
O: A basic lager beer. I was surprised by the saltiness; would be more balanced and better without it. I was actually expecting more based on the back story.
