Exported to the US as Czechvar.
Brewed using whole-cone, Saaz hops from Žatec, pristine water from an Ice Age aquifer, Moravian malting barley and our heritage lager yeast, this classic rich and full-flavoured lager sets the gold standard for Czech brewing across the world. The tradition of cold-conditioning in our brewery cellars for seven times longer than most other beers creates a pale lager with a sweet, deep golden body and an aromatic, hoppy foam. Bold in taste, yet refreshing and perfectly balanced.

Crystal clear yellow-gold with a tall, puffy white head.
A skunky, grassy sharpness contrasts a light corny, grapey sweetness as the exceedingly airy, lightweight yet lifting carbonation softly condenses and becomes pillowy, almost creamy.
It develops into subtle wheat, a little Corn Pop, but is very mild on all fronts the more you dig into it, which is crazy for a beer in green glass outside. The skunk even seems to recede. Though sweet, it also has a semi-dry finish.
Way to take more shelf space ABINBEV. Actually, with some time, I think I like this.

Presentation: 11.2 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass. Purchased from Total Wine & More.
Look: bright golden color. Thick and frothy head that evaporates rather slowly. Good amount of lacing.
Smell: sweet honey, maltiness, bread, herbs, citrus, floral hops. Pleasant smell overall.
Taste: similar to the smell, sweet honey, maltiness, bread, floral hops. It’s a very tasty beer.
Feel: creamy and frothy mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.
Overall: this is a good Czech Pilsner. The flavor profile is well balanced. It’s quite drinkable yet still flavorful. No unpleasant aromas or flavors. It is worth trying if you like this style of beer.

Pours a very bright deep straw producing a 3+ inch, glowing white, billowy head that recedes to a thin surface cap and wisps of lace. Aroma is grain and light biscuit malt, saaz hops with lemon, grass,and hints of honey. Taste is clean, faintly sweet malt nicely balanced with floral, leafy, grassy and lemony hops. Finish is crisp and clean. Very smooth. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

500ml can poured into a wheat glass.
visually a handsome dark golden with a two finger head.
on the nose is sweet corn on bread with a hint of cained sugar.
i would say a thin to medium body for the mouth feel however carbonation is coming out the ass, very prickly on the tongue.
taste follows the nose in flavour, do i detect slight soot?.
no horrible aftertaste i would say a sweetish finish , clean and refreshing.
overall this is a decent smooth ,refreshing and very enjoyable beer.
i have to say i German offerings are my favorite and generally my go to, but after trying this i feel i need to explore the czech beer selection in more depth.
this is a pleasent and rather morish beer, its doesnt break the bank , and it has no nasty's in there to surprise you.
if this was all that was on offer and i had to drink it the whole night i wouldnt be disappointed in the slightest .
if you are reasonably new to beer drinking then this is not a bad starting point, however if you are a seasoned beer drinker with many beers under the belt, then this will not move mountains for you.
its a good beer, and at a good price in my honest opinion .

Single 500 ml green bottle with best before 01/09/2026 - I really wish the whole world used the same dating - I honestly don't know if I just had a 4 month old bottle or it was four days short of perishing of old age (I might assume the former, because so good).
Pours a crystal clear dark golden with two plus fingers of dense creamy white head, some lacing.
Aroma of bready, crackery malt, notes of honey, and a soft floral note.
Taste is of slightly sweet bready malt, again some honey, honeysuckle and just a hint of restrained herbal hop bitterness.
Smooth medium mouthfeel - would suggest bigger than the 5% ABV it carries - clean and gulpable.
Shockingly underrated on all rating scales - this is a world class ~pilsner - honestly like this packaged product more than the Pilsner Urquell cans I have had here (though will not compare either to the on tap P.U. in Czechia).

High quality Budweiser. Gold colour and gold smell, if that's a smell, like honey. There's little to no aftertaste as a lager. This is much better than Budweiser.

An 11.2 ounce bottle into a Nonic.
A high clarity gold pour with a soapy head with fairly high retention and random lacing.
The toasted malt and hops bitterness profile is well balanced. A smooth easy drinker, nicely carbonated, with a mild semi-dry caramel aftertaste.
A crushable Czech Lager.

This is a beer I change my mind about constantly...so reviewing again. Looks pretty usual for a pilsner (some Czech people believe Urquell is the only Czech pilsner) with a pretty good head, aroma really spreads around the room after pouring. Quite pruney and datey.
A little more expensive than their lighter version. The first sip doesn't taste of much. Somehow the more you drink it, the more you like it. Malt is very light, and hops dominate the flavour. Which I usually like. Pruney datey and honey flavours dominate. The hops add quite a cool unique, punchy flavour. But it isn't amazing. Urquell always seems amazing whenever I drink it. As does Radeberger. Mouth feel is fairly thin without a huge amount of after taste.
In many ways I actually prefer the lighter cheaper one...that is light and knows its light...this is light but has a slightly more pruney datey taste.
This is good for sure, impressive value but it lacks the flavour and especially mouth feel to be great.

A: crystal clear; medium gold in color; a 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a skim cap with a moderate tight collar; OK lacing;
S: grass and leaves;
T: floral and a little soapy, but in a good way; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish that got even drier in the aftertaste;
O: Refreshing and enjoyable;
