look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Appearance: pours a brownish color with strong hints of ruby to it. 2-3 finger tan head that has strong retention and leaves behind a nice frothy lacing. some brightness when held to light but mostly opaque.

Smell: some grassy aromas, along with a clean lager yeast. rich caramel to toffee malt flavors. some toasted grains and breadiness.

Taste: opens with rich and sweet malts, ranging from caramels to toffees. more malt complexity comes through with toasted grains and grainy bread. some spicy noble hop character along with some grassiness. some raisins and similar dark fruits.

Mouthfeel: clean. low residual sweetness and little linger bitterness. medium to full bodied.

Overall: For a fresh doppelbock this was very good. one of the most impressive champion beers I have had. Wish I could try it with some age on it to get rid of some of the grassy flavors and add some more complexity. also could be a bit fuller in body.
