Sampled at the bar in Boulder. Poured a pretty cloudy off yellow color with a soft white head with limited retention.

The nose is more malt forward but as it warmed the nice yeast notes came out. Some pils and bready notes were upfront. A light apricot and pear notes were there with a light coriander and banana undertone. A bit yeasty as well. Some hints of hops but overall not much.

The taste is a bit cleaner. The malts are a bit muddled I think because of the yeastiness. But the good Belgian pils and bready notes do come out. The esters are more expressive as well. A soft apricot and tangerine flavor with a noticeable bubblegum and soft clove note. Some spicy characteristics, coriander and a hint of white pepper. Some minor clove and a touch of green apple.

The body is moderate and a bit sweet for style. Good carbonation. Some warming but mostly a clean beer. A creamy finish but looking for a more drier finish. Overall a pretty good beer but some yeast issues are holding it back.

A - Poured out a bubbly, golden/orange with a fizzy, one-finger, head of foam. Nice lace.

S - It smelled of a great deal of clove. There were notes of yeast and caramel.

T - It tasted spicy and yeasty with hints of clove and sweet caramel.

M - It was crisp and very sharp bite on the tongue. A medium-bodied ale.

D - Pretty good tripel.

Good. I expected it to be great. The St Vrain Trippel from Left Hand is preferable.
