Modeled after the classic “Marzenbier” (pronounced “maer-tsen beer”) Octoberfest style that was traditionally the beer served at the Munich Oktoberfest. This is the classic amber lager.

For me, the problem with this beer is consistency. I have had it where it just to harsh, and then had it again where it was much more pleasant and enjoyable. There is a bit of a syrupy taste to this, almost like the taste you get out of extract kits where malt syrups are used. However; overall, it is an enjoyable beer.. especially in the fall months where you are looking for that warmth that a high abv beer will provide. I would definitely buy again.

Not too bad. Not great, however. It’s syrupy, almost like an ale. Not sure why. Kinda wish I had just went with the sure thing copper legend. A smidge lighter body, met with some herbals character to parlay the end with something… I’m not sure? Robust? It’s begging for more but it’s also fine. Malty, somewhat sweet, nicely balanced.

Slightly hazy light amber, with 1.5 fingers of pale tan head.

Smell is the usual toffee, caramel, and brown bread. Slight floral aroma.

Taste is pretty much same , with the caramel being a bit more prominent than in the aroma.

Feel is light-medium, with very fine carbonation tingle/burn. A bit harsher than I'd like for this style. Slight drying effect, that lingers awhile.

Overall, pretty good. Not a top-echelon marzen, but enjoyable.

16oz. Can
Best Buy: 21-JAN-23
Rated: 11-OCT-22

A: Pours a pretty darkish amber color. Head is light tan and about two fingers. Not much retention and zero lacing.

S: Malts. Grassy. Grains. Cool and pretty clean.

T/M: Sweet malts. Slight hop bitterness. Floral. Toasted syrup. Sticky. Decent carbonation. Medium bodied. Has a malty/sticky aftertaste that lingers.

O: Nice easy to drink Oktoberfest brew. Kind of syrupy but the malty flavors are still on point with the style. Definitely worth a try.

Pours a lovely amber with a cream colored head.

Grass, toasted malt, caramel, floral and herbal hops.

Grass, fresh nutty grain, toasted bread, with a dry bitter herb finish.

Copper-colored, not clear enough, thick, dense off-white head, excellent retention and great lacing.
Smells like straight up malt! A little bit of caramel and a little bit of toast
Tastes like it smells.
Medium-light bodied and well carbonated. Very drinkable
If it were more clear, I would've liked it more

16oz can poured into a pint glass. Dark amber color with a 1 in head that recedes quickly. Smell is caramel, toffee, barley malt, and a nice hop aroma. Taste is more caramel and hops, more hoppy than the European versions of this style. Overall a really nice beer, would keep more than a few 4 packs in the fridge for the fall season. The 16oz can format is also perfect for this type of beer.

This beer is quite good and very tasty. Pours a nice 2 finger head and the look of the beer is similar to a traditional Oktoberfest, light brown. It’s got a toasty bread likeness to it, mixed in with Hallterau hops and some possible pilsner malts. Washes down smoothly, with the hops cleaning up the sweetness. Clean and crisp. Nothing cloying. Scents of caramel and some light apricots come in on the nose, but mildly. I must say this was a nice stab at the style by 2 Roads, the first of theirs I’ve ever tried. Will do it again.

From the pint can, it pours a lightly hazy amber color with a modest head that reduces to a thin layer. The nose gets a nice malty scent with notes of sweet fruit, like pear. The mouth gets a smooth feeling malty brew. Pleasant!
