This is a 4.8% ABV wheat beer in the Belgian wheat ale style. It looks like a typical Belgian wheat: light yellow and hazy with a nice creamy head and a bit of yeast sediment. On the palate, still typical: light body with a thin texture and lively carbonation. The aroma and flavor are what separate this beer from most of its counterparts: Celis White has a much stronger bittering hops presence than most wheat beers, so where most wheats finish crisply and quickly, Celis White's hoppy bitterness lingers for a good while. And where most Belgian Witbiers have very significant floral and citrus characters, Celis White's predominant flavor notes are the banana/clove spiciness of a Hefeweisen and the hops. This is a nice wheat beer if you want something on the hoppy side.

Bottled January 22nd 2016.

Pours a light gold, slightly hazy with plenty of foam. Long lasting foam and good lacing.

Cloves coriander yeast in the smell.

Taste of the spices I mentioned. Hints of orange zest coming through and everything works well together. Fresher bottles would have been nice.

Creamy smooth mouthfeel.

Second pour and things get appropriately cloudy.

A very impressive beer.

12 oz bottle from Leukens (Tampa FL). "Brewed and bottled by Celis Brewing Co., Stratford, CT".

Aroma: more spicy than fruity, and slightly more fruity than wheaty.
Flavor: more balance across these three aspects.

O: the fruity/spicy flavor was very good with pumpkin pie.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 02/11/15. Sampled on October 31, 2015.

Cloudy white-yellow pour with a thin white head that fades to a ring.

The aroma really expresses the Witbier characteristics I look forward to including toasted bread, dough, wheat, orange peel, coriander and other light spice.

Light body.

The taste is toasty and bready at first with spices kicking in and a mild bitter ending.

i'm assuming that the bottle i have is from two roads or at least brewed there since it is labeled celis white from celis brewing company out of stratford and it is 4.8%. label says celis white has some sort of crest on it witha bear and a hand with a staff and says "what beer can be" above it. poured into a dimpled mug.

a - brew pours a really straw pale yellow hat is transparent and had a small fizzy creamy head that never fully left.

s - nose is quite pleasant. lemon, floral, wheat, orange peel...soft and summer like

t/m/o - a tasty wheat beer. very soft and inviting, very approachable. not too sweet, not too anything. soft lemon and vanilla flavorings. the feel is a bit fizzy but once you get past that, this is a super drinkable and enjoyable beer. what a pleasant surprise.

This was touted as an authentic Belgian White, I'm not much of a fan if this is truly the case...

Out of the bottle it had a nice amber hue, but the head had little staying power, there was no lacing to mention, and to boot - there was "stuff" floating in the beer. I guess I'll find out tomorrow (or later tonight) if I regret downing the whole beer. Anyway, the Belgian white smelled like a run-of-the-mill beer, was way more carbonated for my taste, but as far as the taste was concern - it was surprisingly pretty good. Overall, I rated it decently just on that alone. Otherwise, I don't think I'll be partaking of these anymore.

Yellow in color. Somewhat hazy in appearance. Banana, clove and coriander. Light, crisp and refreshing. Good carb. Easy drinking. Pretty good, but nowhere near Allagash White.

BOD 12/23/14. Pours a cloudy gold. Normal head volume, lacing and retention.

Outstanding classic Belgian nose of clove, banana, hint of hops, light biscuit and Belgian yeast. As it warms, lemon notes emerge.

Light medium body with a bit of silkiness to the smooth texture. World class carbonation with a nice effervescent middle and a rollicking finely bubbled prickly finish.

The flavor profile is very good. Intensity is reasonable, as is balance. The shortcoming is complexity whereas the flavors don't separate well and come across in a blended, somewhat muted, fashion. Clove is the predominate flavor and the others from the nose are blended underneath. You really have to look for them. The finish is a mild slow fade of phenolic clove.
