A traditional farmhouse ale made with a very expressive yeast strain that contributes an array of tropical fruit, spice flavors and aromatics. Brewed with a variety of harvest grains including barley, wheat, oats and rye as was likely the case with farmhouse brewers of yore. The result is a complex, refreshing and distinctive example of this esoteric style. Intensely fruity (passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lychee), slightly spicy (clove, white pepper).

The hazy golden beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1 1/2” white head that recedes very slowly to eventually become a thin irregular island of foam on the surface and that leaves some irregular patches lacing on the sides of the glass. Sipping creates a few scattered patches and skinny legs of lacing, many of which soon slide back down to the liquid.
The aromas are fruity and spicy with some white pepper and what seems to be a bit of clove. There are also some complex bready, doughy grains showing along with a bit of mild earthy character..
The flavors are much as expected from the nose but with the bready, doughy grains and some sweetness up front. This is noticeably backed up by some fruits, which include pineapple and mango along with some other tropical fruit. Also noticeable is an earthy, spicy character that includes some clove and some white pepper.
The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied and both smooth and a bit prickly and crisp from the persistent finely bubbled moderate level of carbonation. The fairly long finish begins as the sweetness and doughy, bready grains start recede, the fruits move forward a bit and then also begin to fade, leaving the spices and a bit of earthy bitterness to persist throughout the long finish.
Overall this beer has an interesting aroma/flavor profile that is both complex, enjoyable and seems to change a bit as the beer warms. I’ll probably be having more of this one over the summer and would say that it is a beer probably worth giving a try if you happen to find it.

Flight at the brewery. Pours gold with a white head. Smells of yeast and barnyard. Good saidon barnyard bite and a tart long sour finish. Solid saison.

Hazy, yellow in glass. Medium-sized, white head which quickly disappears. Yeasts, spices, and fruits in aroma. Dry, yeasty taste with some astringency and a hint of sourness. Decent bitterness, rather light body.

Decent beer, though I am not a big fan of the style. Nothing super notable about the aroma, just generally malty and a bit spicy. Taste is mostly spice, can detect some clove and maybe some nutmeg and cinnamon. Get the classic banana with a hint of lemon tartness and earthiness. Surprisingly light considering the spiciness. I would say its pretty solid, but nothing really excites me about it.

Served from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a Captain Lawrence, muffin top pint glass; bottled 05/06/20.
A: Pours a hazy to cloudy, lemon yellow color with a one finger, foamy, white head, rim retention, and very limited lacing.
S: Spicy with aromas of lemon, unripened pear, honeysuckle, coriander, and clove.
T: More semidry than semisweet. Flavors follow the nose with the addition of a bit of vegetal earthiness. Light bitterness with clean finish. Very refreshing.
M: Light bodied with solid carbonation.
O: Two roads has produced a dry, flavorful, and very refreshing Saison. Actually, a very good compensation for work.
