Brewed by:
Two Roads Brewing Company

Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A traditional farmhouse ale made with a very expressive yeast strain that contributes an array of tropical fruit, spice flavors and aromatics. Brewed with a variety of harvest grains including barley, wheat, oats and rye as was likely the case with farmhouse brewers of yore. The result is a complex, refreshing and distinctive example of this esoteric style. Intensely fruity (passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lychee), slightly spicy (clove, white pepper).

Two Roads rarely lets us down. This saison (I'm fan of brewer and style) is great example of their work.
A solid 4. Try 6.
Complex for such as simple beer, as saison should be.

A: Bright, hazed, golden color, steady pinpoint carbonation, only a bit of head retention and lace.

S: Clean medicine cabinet aromas, bandaids and alcohol elixirs, mango, nuts, herbs, and overripe stone fruit.

T: Clean dive, mildly grassy, spicy, herbal, mild bubble gum and bandaids, white crackers, lemongrass, pepper, faint alcohol, drying finish.

F: Nice crispness, moderate-size body, prickly and refreshing. Perfect first beer of evening. Out punches its weight class.

A delicious hazy, golden, yeasty, and bubbly farm ale. Complex flavors that go down smooth. Refreshing, fruity thirst quencher with light spice notes.

$ 1.74 (Including tax)/12 oz bottle ($ 0.145/oz) at Max Wine & Spirits, Danbury, CT
Bottle dated 12/04/15 at 42 degrees into hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma – weak spice and some yeast phenolics, fades but hangs on until the end of the glass
Head – large (Maximum six cm, aggressive pour), off white, frothy, diminishing to irregular seven to ten mm ring and rocky layer
Lacing – poor. Some drag marks from the receding ring
Body – light yellow, hazy, effervescent
Flavor – lightly spicy; no hops, no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate – light to medium, creamy, lively carbonation

An unremarkable saison, drinkable enough, and certainly priced correctly.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip.

Appearance: Pours a bright, hazy straw/gold. Huge white head - bottle might've been shaken. White lacing left behind.

Aroma: Pepper, rye, fruit, a bit of spice, clove. Some malt sweetness.

Taste: Very flavorful saison. The peppery rye is there and so are melons and pineapples. Dry, spicy kick. Tasty.

Mouthfeel: Very easy on the palate. Moderate hop bitterness, dry finish. Fairly light of body.

Overall: Very nice take on the saison style. Looking forward to pairing the rest of the six pack with different meals; had this one with a tempeh BLT while watching the Bruins get destroyed.

Banana and clove forward. Some honey like sweetness in the mid palate. Cracker malt dryness. Has a good body to it. Finished short, light and slightly bitter. Not the best, not the worst.
