I am excited about a rum barrel aged pumpkin beer, looks big so hopefully it doesn't let me down.Bottled 7/31/14

Pours a smaller fizzy head covering, reminiscent of a 8+% beer, fades at a med pace, touches of lacing if that, semi dark super ruby colored, little mahogany red, quite clear, and plumb of bubbles streaming up.

Nose brings pumpkin alright, plenty of pumpkin and a little gourd like and a touch vegetal, mild spices, baking spices, perhaps a bit of cinnamon and allspice, but hard to really pick out any specific spices as they are thankfully kept in check, some brown sugar and molasses, a big sweet molasses like aroma, just a hint of a rum and more like a raw molasses rum kinda aroma not a strong aged rum, touch of vanilla and a little candied raisin.

taste brings more candy, all over candy, caramel and toffee out front, quickly into Worthers like almost butterscotch candy and brittle like, a little vanilla, and candied raisin. That all comes together with the waves of sweet sugar flavors, brown sugar and molasses mostly, with a thick almost syrupy like character, while pretty sweet it's actually not overly sweet. It has a little booze warmth, leading me to feel like it's more like 8% rather than 6.8%. It catches a mild rum flavor, but very little, more like the booze from the rum with the molasses and candied raisins. Mild pumpkin in there, candied pumpkin but not really a pie filling, very little spices, bit a hint of a cinnamon and allspice like flavors. Vanilla really comes through at the back end, nice mild barrel with good straight up vanilla, which finishes sweet and sticky, with a bit more booze and rum, and more mild pumpkin, candied raisin, molasses and candy lingering.

Mouth is fuller bod, a bit syrupy and sticky, bit of warming booze, nice bright popping carbonation.

Overall interesting, I wish the rum came through a touch more but thankfully it's not overpowering with rum, or pumpkin and spices for that matter, def kept everything in check nicely. Lots of candy flavors without being too sweet, a bit boozier than it pretends to be, but the flavors really come together nicely, the mild pumpkin and raisin, candy/sweet flavors, hint of rum, and vanilla all meld pretty nicely.

Roadsmary's Baby brewed by Two Roads Brewing Company, with an ABV of 6.80% This Pumpkin Beer pours out a nice light brown color with a small off white head. There is also some nice lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is Rich with spices, pumpkin, malts and grians. You also pick up on a nice sweetness, rum and vanilla. So far this is a nice inviting pumpkin brew. Lots going on in this brew. Now for the taste, it is Bold with flavors. The spices and pumpkin are what you pick up on first. Then there is a nice mild smoothness of grains and malts. The end is the rum sweetness mixed with vanilla. Definitely a different mix for a pumpkin brew. This brew dose put you in the mind set of pumpkin pie. The body of Roadsmary's Baby is a solid medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. I can't get over how smooth this brew goes down, it is really hard to pick up on the 6.80% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. The mouth feel is Bold, Rich, Clean, Smooth, Spicy, Pumpkin and Refreshing. Overall I am going to give Roadsmary's Baby a 4.25 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity to.Two Roads Brewing Company, did a real super nice job with pumpkin brew.

I am currently unemployed with a lot of time on my hands & as such, I am a) not motivated to go out like I do when I have a job & b) trying to reduce the backlog of beer here at Chez Woody. The Bottle Backlog is annoying, but it takes a backseat to The CANQuest (tm). I am amused by a) the fact that the approved pic is a bottle, while I have a CAN & b) I was just in Bridgeport a few weeks ago & Two Roads BC has a huge presence at the hockey arena.

From the CAN: "Scary-Good Pumpkin Ale"; "Here's to taking the road less traveled, in life and in beer!"; "Seasonal Collection"; "A natural, harmless sediment may appear"; "Ale Brewed with Pumpkin and Spics Aged in Rum Barrels with Vanilla Beans".

My 3,400th beer/review began with a scary-loud Crack! Knowing that sediment/lees was a possibility, the Glug was so gentle that the beer seemed timid about coming out to play. I gave it a good, healthy slap on the bottom, I mean, a swirl in the glass, to raise a finger of foamy, tawny head that also got scared & went back into hiding. Aw! Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity, proving that it CAN be important to deCANt properly. It has been an afternoon of CANned Pumpkin Beers, but the nose on this one was unique! The rum scent really led the way and it was easy to pick out vanilla amongst the spices, which were actually more in check than some of the other beers today. Here's an idea for you Pumpkin Ale brewers: you CAN stop the addition of spices BEFORE the beer reaches saturation! Sheesh. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was not as pronounced in terms of its rum & vanilla as it had been on the nose, suggesting that it might need to be aged a bit longer. Still, I was breaking out in a jack-o'-lantern-like grin at my happiness with this beer. Finish was dry, thanks to the spices, but the rum was the flavor of the moment.

Poured from a fresh growler into a tulip glass.

A: Dark copper/mahogany color with a small cap of white foam that quickly fades to a thin collar. No lacing at all.

S: Aromas of cinnamon and allspice initially with a touch of rum. A good amount of what seems like clove. Brown sugar with more rum coming out as the beer warms. Not much pumpkin detectable on the nose.

T: Flavors of rum and allspice followed by cinnamon and a hint of brown sugar. Good pumpkin aftertaste, but the pumpkin flavor itself seems a bit lacking to me.

M: Light-medium body with a high amount of carbonation. Personally I would of preferred if this beer was fuller bodied and less carbonated.

O: The thought of a rum barrel aged pumpkin beer had me very excited. The spices in a pumpkin beer along with the cinnamon/brown sugar flavors of rum seem to go hand in hand. However it failed to meet my expectations, and I was a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad, it just didn't blow me away how I thought it would. There is a good rum presence but the only time I really noticed pumpkin was in the aftertaste. Although I wasn't a fan, I can appreciate the fact that this brewery has put a unique spin on the standard pumpkin beer. I just wish it tasted as good as it sounded on paper.

8/3/16, nice and fresh

A: Pours a nice dark red with an enormous fluffy and fizzy light orange head. Decent head retention but no sign of lacing.

S: Smells great. Some spicy rum mixed with pumpkin and pumpkin spices. Nutmeg and cinnamon I'd say.

T: Tastes more subtle than the aroma. Some rum with very mild pumpkin flavor. Nutmeg, allspice and cloves follow. Pretty sweet in general with some vanilla on the back end.

M: Medium-heavy, smooth.

O: Pretty mellow and easy drinking pumpkin beer. Not a ton of barrel flavor, just some mild rum to kick it up. Not a lot of pumpkin in the flavor either, it's mostly spices. On the sweeter side to boot. Not bad but nothing earth shattering.

i think this is one of the more compelling pumpkin beers around this year, and to have a rum barrel aged beer in a can, thats pretty wicked. some of the coolest label art out there this season too. somehow this is really underrated, if you hate pumpkin or spiced beers, why comment? nice autumnal malty base, almost even oktoberfesty from a grain standpoint, orange in color, on the clearer side, and with plenty of carbonation. aroma is killer, vanilla and brown sugar from the wood and the rum, that barrel ageing is immediately evident. sweet with the grain, but tempered nicely in both the nose and the flavor with a nice earthy fall spice mix, light cinnamon and allspice, some bitterness, and maybe nutmeg, gorgeous with the rum, almost has a mulled or spiced rum vibe, perfect for these colder days we have been having here, gets my sensory faculties excited for fall and winter. i can actually taste rum in here, its great. clove and the actual pumpkin itself to finish, toasted and hearty, i cant imagine anyone who enjoys this playful style not liking this one, its not even that sweet or overly spiced in the finish, and the carbonation lets it drink really light, especially for a barrel aged beer. really cool stuff from these guys! an early favorite in the category this year!

A dark amber color with a small tan head.
Aroma of vanilla, pumpkin, and a little rum.
The taste followed the nose. Vanilla up front, pumpkin, and a late hint of rum.
Medium-bodied. A beer for those who like pumpkin but not pumpkin spice.

12 oz can, canned 7/27/17. Pours ruby amber with a medium fizzy off white head that retains fairly well and leaves little lacing.

The aroma is sweet fruit and perfumey pumpkin spice.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with fruit and some pumpkin spice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, an OK pumpkin beer.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

This beer has the best aftertaste of any pumpkin beer I have tried, level spicing and barrel aging did the trick here. Seriously, Roadsmany's Baby is fun to drink let alone the name which is a hoot. This beer is not just for Halloween, if you can still grab a bottle or few save it for early winter.

LOOK: Nice froth, elegant lacing, hazed dark chestnut hue

SMELL: Well rounded; spice, toasted grain, malty, subtle alcohol, wood, brown sugar, pumpkin, cinnamon

TASTE: Incredibly smooth, dried grassy, toasted bread crust, pie spice, pumpkin flesh, mild wood tannin, kiss of alcohol, earthy, drying tannic wood finish

12 oz bottle, BTLD 7/29/15 etched on the bottle.

Pour is quite clear, darker amber with a dark pumpkin hue. Moderate khaki cap stays a while and leaves some low strands of lacing.

Surprise....some pumpkin on the nose with some fall spicing.

Malty, some pumpkin, more pumpkin pie spicing and a back note of mellow rum. Nice. Full bodied and packing a punch at 6.8%...nice fall sipper

Very good pumpkin beer that manages to have a unique taste in the myriad of pumpkin beers I have tried. Pumpkin spice is there and so is the pie crust. The oaking is subtle until the beer warms. It adds a nice dry flavor to a tasty beer.

Clever name but the aroma and taste is just average for a pumpkin beer; not one of the best. Everything about this beer is subdued except the alcohol and finish. For a higher ABV pumpkin I expect a lot more flavor.

Dark caramel colored with a beige head that settles out slowly and leaves a low fine cap of wispy bubbles. Aroma of faint vegetal notes, some cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.

Squashy flavor upfront, followed quickly by malty goodness, then some spices, and then a wash of vanilla. Vanilla extract and spikey nutmeg emerge in the finish, which detracts from the overall.

Good mouthfeel, round and creamy. Not a bad beer overall, but the vanilla finish detracts.
