Gourdough's Public House is set up more like a bar than a restaurant. So, if you're looking to come in here and grub on some donut related food, don't expect the inside to look like a diner.

Atmosphere was good. Typical bar setting with various seating options, the bar, high top tables and several picnic style tables. Plenty of parking outside, which is becoming more and more scarce in Austin.

Quality and Food were both great. My wife and I took our niece here over the weekend and although we've both been to the Gourdough's trailer for some donuts, we were skeptical of a donut centric meal. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

Value here was great, for three adults with entrees, drinks and an appetizer, we spent less than $40.

My only real complaint about the place was the selection of beers. There were 12 beers on tap with some additional offerings in bottles and cans. Although, the selection was decent there wasn't anything I hadn't tried before. Most places with rotating taps can usually accommodate something unique. Having said that, their selection would still beat most restaurants, just not anything special about it.

Nice bar area to have a pint or two. About ten local beers on tap. Full service liquor bar. Several people were eating lunch, but I didn't have any food. The bartender was quite attentive and the vibe very welcoming. I'd go back.

The atmosphere is really not the main show here, nice enough but forgettable. The beer selection is good, not great but again not really the center of their world. The service was good, not overly fast, but friendly quick enough. The food... not here we get to the main act. Virtually everything on the menu is doughnut themed, made from a doughnut, doughnut buns, chicken fried steak on a doughnut for whatever reason. The best part is that the doughnuts aren't just a gimmicky afterthought as they would be many places, but they are really the best part of the meal. They are fluffy, but substantial and not overly sweet when they shouldn't be. These are far, far better than doughnut burger made with a krispy cream bun. The dessert doughnuts are even better, and even if eating more sounds unpleasant, as it did to us, it is well worth it to order something from the dessert menu to go. So again, its more about the food than the beer, but its a nice bonus that you can have a good, local beer while you are eating some sort of decadent, doughnut monstrosity.
