On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a deep brown hue with a one finger frothy tan head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a soft chocolate a d a touch of dry roasted malt.

The taste consisted of a soft chocolate, with lactose and a touch of dry charcoal.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty sweet stout.

Picked two bottles of this up a while ago at SingleCut as the date on the bottle was 12/27. One was shared at the Other Half line and the other was finally opened tonight in anticipation of the late-season snow. Love the name of this given the reference to the timeless SNL sketch but this wasn't as memorable as I was hoping for more milk and creaminess to the taste and body...

Of course, the pour to this was a dark cocoa brown with a bubbly, mocha head that offset the liquid nicely but quickly faded as the initial roar wore off. Thin for this type of beer, there wasn't much of any lacing to be seen on the side of my SingleCut goblet though there was a bit of sediment on the bottom of the bottle that had to be swirled out. The nose wasn't terribly strong but a strong roasted coffee scent could be picked up, along with chalky cocoa and some molasses. These notes were reinforced in the taste with some nibs, brown sugar, and a hint of peat moss. Was this a Chocolate Stout, a Scotch Ale, or a Milk/Sweet Stout? Hard to tell until I saw the label as this seem to be categorized incorrectly. Not as much lactose, milk, or creaminess as I would have liked though the recessed alcohol and light carbonation allowed for long sips to savor as I attempted to get a read on this!

While not a session beer, it would have been easy to have another bottle after finishing this out. Just a tad too chalky and gritty for me, this was a nice brew that was unoffensive since the sweetness, potency, and strength were all recessed to a large degree. Probably best enjoyed while watching Christopher Walken master sketch comedy!

Had on nitro tap. Pours beautiful one inch head, opaque, dark brown in color. Taste is dark and sweet chocolate with light roast. Creamy body--like a chocolaty Guinness. Interesting and tasty first experience from the brewery. I like other sweet stouts more, but this one keeps me interested in finding out more about Singlecut.

On nitro tap at Local in Branford. Dark body with a creamy head. Nice roasty and chocolate aromas and flavors. The nitro really sends this one home. Restrained bitterness with some charred flavors, semi-sweet overall. Great work!

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a dark brown almost black color with light tan finger’s worth of head. Sly lace. The aroma had some roasty of roasty notes, dark chocolate, lactose, dark fruit, then caramel/toffee backbone. The flavor pretty much copied the aroma sweet and roasty with a clean semi-sweet aftertaste riding on into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt good for what it was. Overall, aromas and flavor came out extremely well. Made for a great dessert beer.

On tap at The Three Monkeys in NYC. Dark and lovely in the glass with a nice head and lacing. Deep rich roasted grains and dark chocolate nose with a light char and sugar.
Taste is like the nose with a big roast flavor that flows into the bitter chocolate and lactose sweetness. . Feel is full and velvety. Super easy drinking with a satisfying swallow. I'll have another!
