Color is typical of an IPA. Very floral aroma with a good hint of hops. The taste is hoppy, floral with a bready aftertaste. Good to above average beer. If you see it, try it!

A buddy of mine, who shall remain unnamed, keeps gifting beers of various stripes to me. I have cautioned him that I am working diligently to reduce & eradicate my Bottle Backlog, but when he offers up something for The CANQuest (tm), I find it very hard to resist.

From the CAN: "Mastery Knows No Shortcut"; "'Does Anybody Remember Laughter?' IPA is created from our brewmaster's recipe honed to perfection with an entirely original combination of PNWhops totaling 110 IBU's."; "SingleCut Beersmiths is proud to maintain the American tradition of beer locally made from craft by zealots/ lunatics who believe hard work, truth, pride and passion always should come before profit."; "Drink ASAP in a clean, wide-mouthed glass * Store cold and upright * Unfiltered, pour carefully".

As I Crack!ed the CAN open, I kept in mind their admonition about it being unfiltered, so I went with a very gentle Glug. Once sufficiently deCANted, I employed an in-glass swirl to raise two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with modest retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled like freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was not at all as bitter as the nose had led me to expect. Instead, there was a good deal of fruitiness present, from peaches and blueberries to grapefruit as well as an m.j.-like dankness, which should not be a shock since m.j. & hops are in the same family. Finish was dry, but not overwhelmingly bitter as so many in the style try to rock you with their IBUs. This may have been measured at 110 IBUs, but it did not drink like it. Many thanks for the hook-up!

Can to Carlsberg Pilsner glass. Ridiculously fresh with a can date of 6/6/17 (found it in philly bottle shop, local 44, during philly beer week.)

LOOK: light beer yellow color, slightly hazy, small white head.
AROMA: Pineapple, lime, papaya, salty sea breeze,
TASTE: refreshing tropical fruit, a little chalkiness, but pretty smooth and tasty.
FEEL: Good (not great) carbonation, but there is a wonderful freshness and bite that is not offensive, but enticing to take another sip.

Good beer. Would buy again if I find it fresh. Love the SingleCut musical references in their beer names. Probably should be a Jeopardy category.

On tap at One Mile House in NYC. 12oz pour served in a wine glass.

A: pours a translucent yellow reminiscent of a wheat beer, with a stark white head of short retention. Spotty lacing.

S: overall quite subdued on the nose, with faint lemony hop character

T: citrus notes up front give way to an earthy hop character, with the bitter finish lingering on the tongue. Little in the way of malt backbone, which would help to balance this a bit

M: medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a wet finish notwithstanding the bitterness

O: this is a straightforward IPA with a simple hop profile. While there's certainly nothing wrong with it, given the proliferation of excellent IPAs in the NY area, I wouldn't seek this one out again

This was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow almost orange color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Messy lacing. The smell started off with a dry resinous/piney coating over some citrus rind. As it warms, more orange rind bitterness comes out nicely. Light melon almost honeydew. The taste moderated well between the bitter orange rind to the bitter piney-ness. Extra light sweet citrus balances in nicely. Semi-sweet melon to bitter piney aftertaste. Dry piney finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body. Slight sessionable feel. Orange juice-like bitterness hits my tongue nicely. Overall, really nice AIPA that I know I’d love to have again.
