Poured to a tulip from a bottle dated 10/31/17.
L- Mahogany nails it, but hold it to a bright light and its like a glowing red Christmas ornament. Full-size, dirty beige head of multi-size bubbles that takes about 3-4 minutes to fade to lace and thin head.
S- Citrus borders on lime, hint of caramel.
T-Hoppier than I expected, but there is that lime again. I have never tasted lime in the citrus note of a beer. Malt backs it up nicely.
F- Medium mouth, any more carbonation would be too much, but as is it is, about right.
O- Single Cut has never disappointed me and this is no exception. Maybe not my favorite in their lineup but a great red ale.

On tap at the Iron Vine in Peekskill, NY.

Typical presentation, mild malty sniff.

This a quite sturdy malted up brew. Loads of caramel, maple and malty goodness. Tasty and well worth a try if you see it in your local

Enjoyed on tap at Brouwerij Lane and another introduction to a new local brewery. Pacific Northwest hopped. A light reddish body, with a little head and lace. Big carbonation. Getting yeast and hops, also a little funky. Drinkable, not what I would expect from the style, still for me drinkable.

Poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a semi-dark amber to red color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that sat atop of the beer for a good half a minute before gently dissipating. Lots of messy clingy lace surrounding the glass fairly nice.
The aroma had the sharp bitter piney hops bold and up front over top of a light clean biscuit to bready and caramel/toffee malt base. Light citrus came in underneath slyly.
The flavor, like the aroma, definitely keeps the piney bitterness up front with a slight citrusy hop sweetness coming about. As it warmed, more caramel/toffee maltiness coats some biscuit/breadiness nicely. Aftertaste was all about the piney-ness with a substantial bitterness to that.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt on par. Definitely a piney bitter grip riding my tongue to a fairly "cool" sort of submission. There's some smoothness in the finish but still that piney-ness really showed it's presence which to me made this a really nice beer all around.
Overall, throughout all of my years reviewing beers and having a fair amount of amber/red ales, I have to admit, this has got to be one of the piney-est ambers on the market. I honestly feel like I licked a pine cone.

On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a clear light brownish-red, with a quarter inch head, and a good amount of lacing.

This ones smells pretty vaguely "red," some toasted bread, a bit of northwest-style piney hops, and some caramel.

This is definitely not Singlecut's best work, unfortunately. It just doesn't do a whole lot to stand out much. There's the typical malt build for this style- some toasted bread and caramel, that's about it. The hop flavor is pretty weak- there's very light piney hops- no citrus flavors or other fruit flavors- just a kind of weak generic bitterness. Just sort of uninteresting, unfortunately.

This is medium bodied, with a crisp, bready mouthfeel, and a normal level of carbonation.

Not Singlecut's best. You can't win 'em all.
