Pours a super-hazed honey color with one finger of beige head. Dissapointing head retention& lacing

S: Tropical fruit, orange peel

T: Follows the nose, a little dry , mango & a little cattyness up front. Cattyness, dryness & pomelo as this warms , a little mango too. Finishes dry with mango & pomelo, plus a touch of woody bitterness

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, decent balalnce

Drinks easy, wished it matched the nose, still pretty good

A fantastic session IPA!

A pale cloudy yellow with a great aroma.

part of a flight at Knickerbocker Tavern in altoona pa, last Sunday. Reviewed from notes

very hazy orange amber body. Good white head initially, little in the way of lacing.

resin is the primary aroma, quite enticing.

Although in smelled resiny, it's quite citrusy on the taste, and fairly bitter. Decent malt background as well.

Mouth is below medium, bitter on the finish.

Overall, first offering from this brewery. Interesting beer, and I'm a bit on the fence about it. Maybe should try it again sometime

Thanks to JLindros for hooking me up with a can.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy golden hue with a creamy one finger white head that faded quickly to leave thin wisps and a light halo.

S - Aromas of citrus zest, little bit of pineapple. Spicy grassy hops, some biscuity malts. Little bit of pine.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Fair amount of spicy hops, decent pine, solid orange zest notes. Little bit of sweet malts. Finish is lightly bitter.

M - Mouthfeel is average, decent carbonation, crisp. Maybe somewhat thin.

O - Overall this was an decent enough IPA. Nothing special but nothing offensive or anything like that. In an IPA pinch, this'll do.

On Tap
Palate Contaminants: none

It looks just like orange juice. Not much head to speak of.

Smell isn't notably intense. There's pine resin and a bit of nut.

The taste is much more intense. Bitter pine and a slight bit of citrus acidity. I keep thinking I'm going to get a sudden increase in nut flavor, but it just keeps hanging out in the background. The citrus is somewhere between grapefruit and lime.

Carbonation comes out a little easier than I'd prefer, but the weight is down the middle for the type. Aftertaste is bitter wood.

18-Watt (Unfiltered Session) IPA, 16 Oz can poured into a Duvel Tulip.

Look - Really hazy orange, the color of grapefruit juice, with a thick bright white head. Unfortunately, the head immediately dissipates without a trace.

Smell - Pine and grapefruit, with a hint of tropical fruits such as pineapple and guava.

Taste - Grapefruit is the dominant flavor, front and center, with a pronounced bitterness. There's a hint of sweetness and the tropical fruit flavors, but it's overwhelmed by the grapefruit. The bitterness lingers as the flavors fade away.

Feel - Full bodied, with a nice mouth feel.

Overall - I found it underwhelming. Singlecut describe it as a Session IPA, but 5% seems too strong for a session beer - that's standard IPA territory. Being unfiltered, it calls to mind NE style IPAs, but that comparison is dashed as soon as you take a sip and find all 86 IBUs crashing down upon you. It's just an unfiltered IPA with a predominant grapefruit aroma and flavor. I find the grapefruit somewhat overwhelming. I won't be buying this again, and particularly not with its $20 a 4-pack price.
