this was poured into a becher pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt amber color with a thin white foamy head. Sly trickling lace. The aroma had some pine and grassy bitter hops beating at sly portions of a sweet apricot to peach-like sweetness. The flavor was moderately sweet with a decent blend of malts to hops. Aftertaste was fairly nice with the same sort of ratio; lenient to the malts. Finish was brisk and slightly sweet. The palate was light bodied with a good sessionability as I know it’s supposed to, duh? Carbonation felt fine. And the ABV felt fine. Overall, it’s good for what it is as Singlecut wanted it to be.

16 oz. can smuggled back from the lawless beer paradise of Washington D.C. Had a couple of their IPAs on tap while we were there, so looking forward to this one. Dated 5/10/17 on the bottom of the can along with “Wear an Ascot”. What the hell is an ascot?

This beer is the orangiest orange juice that I’ve witnessed to date; put a couple white baggy eyes on it & give it a Twitter account &, well, we already have one of those. The nose beckons with peach, native prairie grass, drizzled sugar.

Billy 18 Watt IPA suffers from the typical session IPA weakness - it’s thin, almost watery. This wouldn’t be so disconcerting if the beer didn’t look like it would leave grit between your teeth, but the disconnect betwixt eye & throat is jarring. The taste is peach, grapefruit pith, low bitterness, grainy, with an almost sandpapery abrasiveness. It has thickened a touch as it warms. It has succeeded in that I would be able to suck a couple of these down like a whirlpool.

There are a few brewers that can make their ‘session’ IPAs not taste like they’ve been cut with water at the Prancing Pony, but not many. This one almost gets there. Good beer.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Listen, this is my first review on the site. But I've drunk some of the finest beers in the country, lived in Maine for three years where I was spoiled with incredible beers available at all times including at the local 7/11. But this beer is jumping some of the all time greats into my top 5. I used to say bar none that bissell brothers substance was my favorite daily drinkable beer, but Billy 18-watt has taken that honor. Highly carbonated yet still soft, it has an incredible mouthfeel. The deep tropica flavors simply burst out for an 5.0% ABV beer, and each sip leaves the desire for more. I couldn't ask for much more in a beer. Drunk on the same night I had 3 other singlecut beers, the alchemists the crusher, and a galactic double daisy cutter, this was my favorite of the bunch.
