Style: Berliner Weissbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 3.50%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
It’s hot baby, we needed to do something - so a sour lagrr! infused with hibiscus (and black currants, but who’s counting) seemed like something that would help beat the heat.

Had this at the brewery... t'was perfect on a nice summer day on the patio.

A: Gorgeous deep pink color with high carbonation

S: Hibiscus, sweet citrus (apparently it also has black currents in it) and faint sour malt.

T: An excellent blend of all the above - everything nicely balanced and not over the top

M: Thin and mildly fizzy, just right

O: This was a huge surprise by a brewery I'm more and more impressed by each day. Viva Queens yo!!

Wow! If you drink sours, hello and help your summer cool down whether at the beach partying in the Hampton's or grinding the day out in the city streets. Wine drinkers with their chilled whites, chablis, or rosé need to get a clue. Not the "Colonel Mustard, with the Candlestick in the Lounge" but the kind of clue that put this at the top of the must be drinking at all summer occasions kind of clue.

Single Cut once again puts pride of brewing to the forefront and delivers the very best in each category.

Thank you.

Had on draft a few years back in the taproom.

This review is from the recent mass production and distribution of KIM bottles.

Very average and off putting. Not much flavor or balance.

Very weak in both color and mouthfeel.

Seems watered down compared to when I tried it in the taproom, way back when.

Certainly not worth the $.50 per ounce for the cost of the bottles.

I'm usually a huge fan of Singlecut products, but this one in mass distribution is very subpar for the price point.

This should be more like $11.99 for a six pack.

I fear that Singlecut is misusing their namesake to cash in on inferior quality products.

1/2 growler filled at Green Growler Grocery, Croton on Hudson, NY

The pour basically mimics pinkish grapefruit juice, minor loose head, no lacing to speak of.

Light sour and fruity nose.

Fruity sweet/sour with grapefruit in control. Refreshing, tasty and thoroughly enjoyable.

More high quality brew from this up and coming brewery from Queens, NY.

A- cloudy orange body with trickles of carbonation.... Foamy pale white head dissipates into sticky lace about the snifter and atop the body...

S- sour and salty, peaches or some other fruit are there... Definitely a fruity profile underneath.

T- still fruity, with lingering peach and lemon zest, i also get a dry taste that reminds me of apricot... Very interesting... Definitely orchard- like...

M- very light, tart, low-carbonation... Drinks easily... Dry mouthfeel so not quite thirst-quenching but still ideal for a summer day...

O- im loving this beer... Quite the surprise to get from a whole foods and from a brewery I don't know too well. I'd say it's great.

Visiting Singlecut for the first time (ps - love the atmosphere!)

Beautiful golden straw in color, slight haze but without any funk. When first poured there was at least 2 fingers of foam (even after careful pouring for more than 2 minutes), but that fizzled down to a thin line. No lacing after consumption.

Aroma is tart, breezy, and hints at some funk. No hop presence, light malt aroma.

Sour floral notes with a very light malt backbone. Sweet and pungent, but not sugary sweet - tart sweet (if that makes any sense).

Crisp and extremely refreshing. What starts out "thin" based on the sour element quickly turns into a malty bath of the tongue. After taste lingers but lightly. The coating the lips stays "sweet" and tart long after the sip has been had.

Overall, this is a wonderful beer. I would be happy to buy growler after growler of this during a warm/summer day to share on a back patio or deck.

A: Opaque grapefruit juice with no visible carbonation. Pink hue. No head.

S: Pink lemonade and grapefruit juice. Berry and floral notes as well.

T: Moderately sour. Does not hit the jowels like some others from this style that I've had. Light berry juice flavors and lemon.

Mouthfeel: Thin and carbonated. A touch dry.

O: Very drinkable and refreshing at 3.5% ABV. Not too sour. This is a very straightforward beer, with some more unique berry and floral notes compared to others.

Bottled on 6/29/2016. Don't know what I was expecting in terms of color but this one pours out a cloudy pinkish orange with a quickly dissipating white, compact head. On the nose, I get fresh raspberries, underripe gooseberries, sweet floral aromas, tart cherry, lemon, strawberry, and sour apple. Very refreshing, light mouth feel with a clean, fruity, slightly tart aftertaste. The taste has raspberry jam, cranberry, rose petals, mild lemon zest, and a funky yeast characteristic underlying all the flavors, bringing everything all together. This is not my go-to style or preference but I f'in love SIngleCut and give all their beers a try. Great for a hot and humid summer evening, when chilled.

On tap at Pizza Plant in Williamsville, NY.

Pours a light pink-ish amber, with a small, 1/4 inch fizzy head, and no lacing.

Smells moderately sour, with notes of lemon and hibiscus.

This one takes a nice middle road between sour and sweet, with a good but not annoying level of hibiscus. There's a little bit of lemon and cherry flavors, with a mild amount of vinegar.

The sourness on it doesn't linger very much. There's a medium amount of carbonation, with an almost soda-like mouthfeel, and a light body.

Another excellent beer from Singlecut, my first sour from them.

On-tap at Brklyn Beer Garden, JFK Airport Terminal 2, NYC

A: The beer is hazy light rosé in color with no visible carbonation and somewhat resembles peach juice. It poured with a thin white head that died down and left lacing on the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass and eventually completely faded away.
S: Light aromas of sourness are present in the nose along with slight hints of hibiscus.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is slightly sour and has hints of hibiscus flowers.
M: It feels light-bodied and slightly tart on the palate and has a light to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and has some refreshing properties. It would make for a good selection on a hot summer day.
