Murky bright orange hue.

Off-white head; strong lace.

Orange citrus nose; light mango finish.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Mango, pineapple, slight melon flavor; tart hop bight on the finish. A bright, near-perfect take on the style; a touch smoother finish & I'd be ready to crown it's ass.

Bottle: Batch 90

A: Translucent dark orange body - apricot orange. Off white velvety, thick head that hangs around for seemingly forever.

S: Strong, pungent, dank, piney hops. Grapefruit, lemon, oranges.

T: Hops slap the palate right off the bat. Sweet oranges. Bready, dry, biscuit malts. Grapefruit rind bitterness lingers in the finish.

M: Full body. Heavy carbonation. Oily. Sticky. Prickly.

O: A very nice DIPA. Very balanced, yet the hops still have an awesome presence. Simple, yet complex, and something I'd be happy to try again. Well done Spiteful.

A: dirty orange body, trace white head
decent lacing

S: grassy veg, light grapefruit, lemon, hint of pine

T: same as nose, floral + malt notes, dry bitter finish

M: med body, semi-oily/dry mouth

O: It's my fault, have high expectations from
this local fine brewery. This was good, but
body, nose, body, needed a bump. Still
good, just not incredible.

Pours a slightly hazed orange tone, compact head of creamy foam on top. Dense sticky lacing around the edges. Head has lasting retention. Looks good.

Aroma is a little soapy and floral at first, becoming more citrusy by the second pour. Pretty pungent and on the verge of dankness. Teetering on the threshold. Balancing on the brink.

Taste is resinous and chock full of hoppy bitterness. Bitter citrus peels, just like chewing on an orange peel. Dandelion aftertaste. Medium bodied but with a lightness and not too heavy or sticky. Pretty nice, a little timid with the Citra but it still drank pretty good.

Appearance: Clear golden color. Big bubbly head on the pour to about a finger and a half. Random light lacing left at each level. Average active carbonation in glass while drinking. Looks like a big IPA should.

Smell: Piney bitterness from the Centennial hops hits the nose first. Pine and resin continue to be the strongest aromas with some of the bright fruitiness one would expect from the Citra. Malt is present but not a major player.

Taste: More fruity hop presence going on here. The front is a combination of grapefruit, mandarine oranges, lemons, and some light mango tones. The traditional centennial profile settles in on the body with a heavy bitterness but with some continued heavier fruit. Lighter fruitiness returns toward the back end with some lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Bitterness is the biggest player on the palate. Some sweetness provided throughout which keeps the palate from getting hit with too much Centennial.

Overall: Good stuff from Spiteful. I've liked some of their other DIPAs more then this one but I can't really complain. Centennial forward all the way. Citra is there but not a huge player so if that is what you are looking for you many get a little disappointed.
