look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 2.25 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 2.5

Appearance: A finger of head on the pour which was present on the edges of the glass while drinking. The color is a muddy dark amber, light brown color. Above average active carbonation.

Smell: Sweet toffee and oak on the front. Syrupy tones with accents of cough syrup are found on the body. Light semi-sweet barley and mossy hops picked up on the back end.

Taste: Bright oak, honey, and unhinged toffee. The first drink was shocking for the palate. Mossy hop tones and an overly sweet malt jump the drinker on the body. Cloying medicinal cough syrup lingers on the palate long after drinking.

Mouthfeel: Overly sweet, carbonation is light, forgettable finish.

Overall: I love Spiteful but this is the first complete miss I've had from them. I was really looking forward to this one too, bummer. The overly sweet cough syrup tones that poorly executed english barleywines have are all over this one. Revisit this recipe and try again Spiteful.
