Draft at Green Lady, served in a stemmed fluted tulip glass.

Hazy saturated orange, compact creamy head of foam and spotty lace around the edges of the glass. Parts to a still glassy surface after awhile.

Aroma is mild at first with some yeasty qualities and a light fruitiness as it warms.

Medium bodied with some tart underripe fruit and vague phenolics, white pepper.

Overall it's enjoyable enough to try but I wasn't compelled to drink more.

Appearance: Pours with a half finger of head which dissipated quickly and was only present on the edges of the glass while drinking. Color is a murky burnt orange. Active carbonation is present but nothing over the top.

Smell: Medium bodied dark fruits and herbal, rustic spices hit the nose first. Hints of citrus and lemon add a welcome layer of brightness. A sort of medicinal sweetness lingering throughout which I assume is from the mugwort and bog myrtle. Interesting layers.

Taste: Lemon grass and tart fruits jump the palate. Those tart fruits ride into the body, adding a touch of medicinal sourness. Earth and grounded spices are potent on the back end. Lingering spices, fruits, and a touch of sweetness sit on the palate long after drinking.

Mouthfeel: A touch of dryness meshes well with overall sweetness. Carbonation is a touch low but fits.

Overall: I don't know much about this style or its ingredients but I really enjoyed it. Props to Spiteful for attempting such a rare style and in my opinion executing it very well. Tired of the endless cycle of IPAs and big beers? This is a brew for you.
