22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Batch #561, had 5/15/17.
Pours a hazy orange, with a half inch quickly dissipating head and some loose lacing. Smells of citrus- grapefruit, orange, tangerine, light malt and yeast, some toffee, maybe a little lactose. A little bit of a dank aroma, a little sour. The taste is also citrus- grapefruit, tangerine, the kiwi comes through here and seems to soften the overall citrusy flavor, some caramel, light malt, a touch of lactose and sourness. Some hop bitterness up front and at the finish. Smooth, good medium body, well carbonated.
Really nice hop/malt balance. The kiwi adds to the flavor, and I’m guessing is what adds the sourness to the aroma and flavor. Spiteful makes good DIPA’s , and this one is, too.

Just too heavy and sweet. Perhaps it's my tastes, but definitely shifting away from this 9% - 10% super sweet midwest IPA style. It was new and exciting when Bell's kicked it off with Hop Slam, but it's tired at this point. Adding some fruit doesn't materially change the beer.
I'd encourage Spiteful to pivot. Give us more drinkable beer.

Poured from a bomber into a Teku glass.
A: Opaque orange with a thin white head ring that clings to the side of the glass,
S: Tropical fruit mango and of course kiwi. Slight malt and little pine scent
T: Kiwi hits immediately with sweet malt following behind. A lingering bitterness in the finish possibley from the kiwi and hops.
F: Thick and malty mouthfeel, creamy and delicious
O: Overall, I enjoyed this beer. The bitterness hung around a little too long in the finish for me. Still, I would seek this out the next time they brewed it.

Very good double IPA. Lots of fruity kiwi flavor to it. Fruit and hops are balanced nicely. One of my favorite Spiteful IPA'S. Delicious!
