Rich, silky, chocolate notes and dark roasty flavors. Sweet but not cloying. Amazing example of what a RIS should be. I really don't think it gets better than this. Like drinking silky alcohol laced chocolate fudge mocha. Spiteful kicks ass.

Tan head, opaque black.

Smells of coco, and only coco, hints on coffee and undertones of alc.

Chocolate hits the pallet first, Thick with a melted chocolate feeling. Aftertaste of coffee and slight Alc. Little bite at the end with a creamy finish.

Little bit of a sticky mouth feel.

All in all reminds me of an imperial Samuel smiths organic chocolate stout. Which is delicious.

22oz. bottle poured into a CBS Snifter. Bottled in 2012. Thanks to bstyle for the bottle.

Appearance: Deep, dark, brown with a nice 1/4" tan cap that looked really creamy

Smell: Dark roast and dark chocolate on the nose.

Taste: When colder the bitter mocha flavors are dominant; however, as it warms the dark chocolate flavors take over and the bitterness recedes quite a bit. Warmth reveals just how good this beer really is, rich dark chocolate over everything else.

Mouthfeel: It stands out how creamy and drinkable this beer becomes as it warms. Very smooth with it's abv very well masked..

Overall: Really impressive effort from a newer Chicago brewery, one of the best RIS I have had.

Poured from the bottle a dark brownish-black with two fingers of mocha head. Sheets of lacing left behind.

Aroma of chocolate, licorice, dark fruits, and a hint of booze.

The taste was much bolder than the aroma. Opened with a big hit of dark coffee and roasted malts followed by chocolate, and cocoa. Some boozy warmth from the 10.5% abv in the finish.

Medium bodied and smooth with a lighter carbonation.

A solid R.I.S. from the folks at Spiteful. I'll definitely have this one again.

Pitch black in the glass with a velvety layer of mocha foam across the surface. Wispy veil left behind after the first few sips, drippy bits of lace hang on the sides after each sip and sink slowly back into the beer.

Rich toasty aroma, sticky maple syrup, chocolate, charred toast.

Creamy smooth texture, not unlike Mexican hot chocolate, medium bodied and rich. Moderate bitterness from the black malt but never astringent. Lingering bitter dark chocolate aftertaste. Slight sweetness at first with subtle fruity hints of dates or dried plum from the yeast. Balanced and very smooth, reminds me a little of Plead the 5th.

This is a great RIS, and I think i'd prefer it over GFY when not craving a hoppy stout.
