didnt eat there and the quality is lower because its like a college bar.. but the bartenders and selection are usually great... Rubeas is always on tap in summer...

This place must be looking up... I visited twice both times for a later dinner and once during a bears game.

It's a sports bar, nothing overly glorious about it. Once you get past that things improve immensely. Let's start with the food, everything I had was great bordering on fantastic. For pub/sports bar food it's exceptional. Especially try the mac and cheese bites. Good way to start off your beer night!

The draft list is quite impressive and based on lots of local breweries. If that doesn't tickle your fancy they have a decent list of bottles available in the range of 20-30 or so to choose from with reasonable prices for a bar.

Yet another borderline entry to Beerfly, submitted by a PR marketer looking for free advertising for their client, sadly.

Local 22 is located in the "entertainment district" stretch of Hubbard that is often dotted with feathers, glitter, and piles of vomit come Monday morning. On paper this place seems to be great, a couple dozen taps focusing on regional craft beer (just as of recently). A couple years ago this place was on a bar rescue tv show, and even after that makeover they only had 8 taps and the best was Matilda. Fast forward to today, looks like they had another recent beer makeover and added a bunch of new trendy craft draft lines. The keg cooler for all these is the size of a walk in closet.

After getting id'ed at the door, past the drunken mag-mile shopper chicks grinding each other to Vanilla Ice, we sat at a seemingly quiet and forgotten end of the bar where kegs were piled. Service was surprisingly quick, and we got beers right away, though no beer menus offered. Greenbush Anger was on tap for $7/12oz. They are on beermenus, current drafts include 10 breweries: Dark Horse, Founders, Goose, Greenbush, Half Acre, Metro, Rev,Solemn Oath, FFF. The crowd was half tourist/suburbanites, half post-work on a friday night. Many empty seats at the bar were piled with shopping bags, not much of a beer crowd. The layout of the place was oddly horizontal, not deep like most Chicago bars. Table seating in the front windows, long bar opposite. Black paint on everything, with some silver tiles, random xmas decor, flatscreens behind the bar. As we left I noticed the row of macro neons in all the windows, which about sums up the faux-craft vibe here.

Honestly the vibe here is very generic and party-centric, beer felt like an afterthought even though there was a good selection. The bar has no identity and feels like any other generic downtown spot full of randoms, despite the hokey design elements to appear "local" such as the large wood cutout on the bar of the 60611 zip code. Eh... no thanks. Plenty of better beer-centric places nearby worth your time, like Farmhouse, Jake Melnicks, Monks, Publican, Rock Bottom, Clark St. Ale House, etc.
