330ml can into a snifter. Paid £3.15 for a single.

Pours an opaque, dark, shiny amber-copper body with a small amount of carbonation that becomes visible when held to the light. A one-finger in height, foamy, off white coloured head reduces slowly to a patchy film, leaving behind plenty of sticky, soapy lace.

The spicy nose leads initially with aromas of nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon and faint roasted pumpkin. Traces of caramel and citrus fruits follow, while additional spices in the form of ginger, clove and pepper become apparent towards the back end. Taste roughly follows suit. Semi-sweet and spicy notes of nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon lead upfront above pale and crystal malts. Mid palate, faint caramel sweetness blends with lingering spice, revealing only subtle hints of sweet roasted pumpkin underneath. Towards the back end, citric hop profiles build with more intensity than the nose suggested. Juicy blood orange, pith and rinds join pine, earth and spice to provide modest, but well balanced bitterness towards the finish. In the mouth a light to medium body paired with soft carbonation feels slick and reasonably smooth despite being a little thinner than ideal. On the very end, residual caramel sweetness joins warming clove, pepper and ginger, taming lingering orange and pine bitterness to finish slightly dry, and bring the spicy flavour profile full circle. After the swallow, the 7.2% ABV makes its presence known, but rather than detract from taste, it serves to add further warmth appropriate to the season.

Overall this is a decent beer. Well balanced and easy drinking, its warming autumnal spices perfectly compliment the semi-sweet malt backbone and bitter orangey hop profiles the rest of the beer is built on. Pumpkin flavours are a perhaps a little lacking, and the ‘maple syrup glazed’ aspect the back of the can mentions is completely absent. Ultimately though it remains a solid seasonal offering.

330ml Can from Good Spirits Wine & Beer, Glasgow (£3.00):
An interesting one, the beer was incredibly spicy from the start with a cinnamon taste dominating & some ginger, nutmeg & various other spices following on behind. There was a little pumpkin in there too & a few earthy malts but nothing could compete with the spice & as a result it wasn't up there with the best that Beavertown have to offer sadly. I still felt it was a drinkable offering & one well worth trying but I doubt it's one I'm likely to go back to again.

Can at Lager Lager Berlin.
Good looking beer but felt a bit overspiced compared to th 2015 version. Personally did not enjoy it.
