330ml can bought from Lighthouse Wines, Jordanstown

Poured a nice deep amber gold colour with a slight haze. Slightly off white head poured pretty loose and fizzy then faded to light wispy coating with thickish edging... very light carbonation... some patchy lacing...

Aroma - Nice blast of juicy tart tropical fruits (oranges, ripe pineapple, pears) followed by quite a surprising amount of sweet caramel malts, strong dank piney resin and citrus hoppiness, tobacco, quite rubbery, honey, onion, cut wet grass / hay...

Taste - Lots of piney, grassy and citrus hop bitterness up front... juicy tart fruits (strong grapefruits, pears, bitter oranges), nice caramel malts and notes of floral honey balance out the hop assault, quite herbal, metallic, earthy tobacco notes, some alcohol warmth

M&D - Fairly smooth with a little oiliness in the background then some sharpness comes through... full bodied... pretty drinkable for a 9% hop bomb

Overall - A very good DIPA - big, bold and full of flavour... recommended..

CAN
Hazy lemon yellow with sticky, creamy steady white foam. 4.25
Piles of fresh papaya with some evergreen and flower nectar. 4
Apricot croissant then grapefruit, light mango-OJ smoothie, lemongrass, and pine sap. 4
Spruce tip end and numbing linger. 4.

Citra, Columbus and Amarillo

Seems very now to start with: turbid, juicy, and a light malt load. However, hoppy though it may be, it recalls something more Naugties PNW - very green. That's probably down to the hop choice - this is not a trendy NZ-type tropical monster. It stomps on everything else around these shores that's not Full Irish-calibre, no question. But it also is nothing that's not available in a Portland gas station, and it definitely shouldn't be friggin' €6 for a 330ml can. 4

A 330ml can with a BB of March 2018 (canned Dec 2017). ABV is stated as 9.2%. Acquired recently from Trembling Madness in York. Bring on the hops!

A: Poured into an IPA glass. Unfiltered. A rich, hazy amber hue with fine suspended sediment and good carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of overwhelmingly fruity hops with hints of grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruit, stone fruit, melon, white grape, subtle grassiness, earthy yeast, caramel malt and mild stewed hops. Unbelievably hoppy - superb!

T: Tastes of exceptionally aromatic hops with notes of grapefruit, citrus, peel, tropical fruit, stone fruit, white grape, melon, grassiness, earthy yeast, caramel malt and stewed hops. The booze is well hidden. Very dry, followed by an intense hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and good body. Not overly thick given the high ABV. Pretty astringent - dries the palate. Aftertaste of aromatic citrus, tropical fruit, bitterness, earthy yeast and caramel malt.

O: An excellent DIPA with fantastic hop presence. Looks good - only the weak head retention lets it down. The aroma and flavour supply an avalanche of aromatic hop notes underpinned by yeast and malt. Good body. Goes down a treat - a must-try beer for all hop lovers.

330ml Can from Good Sprits Co. Wine & Beer, Glasgow (£4.20):
A fantastic double IPA from Beavertown, loaded with hops & bitterness from the start. There was a great combination of tropical fruits & citrus as well plus a few caramel malts & sweetness helped with the balance. Despite the strong abv. & some alcohol was showing, it was eas easy beer to drink & one I look forward to picking up again at some point. Definitely the best I've had thus far from Beavertown, they really do know how to make a good IPA.

Can from Liquorice in Shenfield. Great hazy orange, with lots of US citrus hops on the nose. Lovely dank and intense hops, lots of citrus, and sickly, spicy marmalade over a good base booziness which comes across as a sweetness. Great beer.

Hazy dark orange color. Very intense hoppiness in the aroma with lots of tropical fruits. Taste is also intense on the tropical fruit with a good amount of bitterness. Alcohol is pretty well hidden for the 8.7% ABV. One of my favorite beers from Beavertown.

Pours a hazy copper colour. Smells of honey, sticky, sweet malts, and floral hops. Smooth taste, can taste the ABV, syrupy malt, floral malts, with slight earthy hops lingering. Potent, but delicious.
