Pumpkin orange with almost two fingers of tan-tinted head that leaves thick lacing. Big, malty aroma with baseball-mitt leather, pumpkin pie spices (cloves, ginger, allspice, mace) and a sweet, squash-like twang to it. These continue in the taste, with more of a caramel characteristic to the malt, and a strong spicy, piney, herbal hop bitterness added to the mix, as well as a kiss of alcohol. The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, slightly viscous, with decent carbonation. Definitely an American version, and not exactly my thing.

Bottle from Whole Foods-Indian School Plaza. Copper/orange pour, small silky head. Sharp malt aroma and taste, crisp, dry bitterness. Warm, but overall just average.

Served in a snifter at the brewery.
Deep copper body, creamy oatmeal head. Head becomes a thick film with a wall of lace. The clarity is superb and the beer looks majestic. 5
Sweet malty aroma initially. Candy caramel. Berry fruity hop aroma. 4
Candy-like caramel sweetness like a sucker. Beery fruitiness like the nose offered. Vanilla then mingles with resinous, earthy, spiciness. Element's of this remind me of a Belgian, with the fruity, candy-like sweetness. Add to this a marshmallow sort of element. Something alluringly sweet. 4
It's smooth and creamy while also spicy, resinous and bitter. Sweetness takes on a candy-level but the beer is never really hot. 4
Fresh barleywines have always been tricky for me as I think they're best with age and maturity. This shows great potential and all signals point to a gem after this develops.

22 oz bottle poured into snifter
A: bright light amber with a lot of red, light small slightly off white head. Beer has amazing clarity
S: very nice resin and floral hops but with a deep rich caramel maltiness that has some nice breadiness.
T: Wow this beer is intense, its very piney and floral the hops are bracing with a very good slap of malts but they don't nearly take over the hops
M: surprisingly light and very clean it might be a touch clingy but it is very mellow for a barleywine touch high carbonation.
O: Big hops malts are there but its all about the hops. Reminds me of Bigfoot but maybe not as hoppy nice soft caramel on the finish. I would drink this any day.
