Although it's only a few blocks from Andersonville Wine & Spirits, La Primera is a hidden gem in Uptown. It's an older corner bodega store, recently packed to the gills with craft beer and obscure imports. Beermenus lists 400+ brands, and there is a surprisingly huge selection here (similar to Puerto Rico Food & Liquors in West Town).

Once inside, past the register and to the left, a rack towers with bombers and import 750s in a narrow cross aisle. Another endcap of shelving held seasonal 4-6 packs, and around the corner was yet another free-standing rack of bombers. A long bank of coolers held a good amount of craft beer too, plus more behind the counter. It was almost a scavenger hunt to find all the beer shelves.

Full lines from obscure imports like 8 Wired (NZ) and Mikkeller, plus assorted others. Many staple craft brewers like Boulevard (12+), Jolly Pumpkin (6+), Bruery (6+), Bells (12+), FFF (6+), Founders (6+), Lagunitas (8+), Perennial (4+), Revolution (4+), Two Bros (16+!?) and more. Noticed fresh O'so Hop Whoopin' and Lupulin Maximus here. It literally looks like they brought in everything they could possibly order and fit on the shelves. Constructive criticism: it would be a good move to clear an aisle shelf opposite the beer coolers, and consolidate all beer from the rickety endcap shelves, and get rid of those. Wouldn't want a pricey Bruery 750 getting bumped and shattering on the floor... plus one long shelf would be a better way to organize all beers by brewery, and easier to browse.

Service was good, the clerk helped me find something they had listed on Beermenus, which they seem to update weekly. He mentioned "following" them on BM to get email updates. If you're in the area definitely check it out, lots of good potential here.
