Thank you, Mike, for this rare treat. Bottled somewhere between 1997 and 2000, this is a beer I'd never heard of.

Pouring a pinkish cherry red with a dense white head that recedes a little quickly to a ring, this beer looks solid. The nose is excellent. It really evolves during my drinking of this beer, opening big and Brett-like with sharp barnyard aromas, a strong plastic character that give way to a moderately acetic character. Grass and farmhouse are apparent, this is great, though not really what I expect from a lambic. The palate opens with a moderate lactic tartness, quite clean, before a Brett barnyard character takes over. Grass, hay and clove are quite prominent, this one has a moderately muted cherry character. Cherry pit tannins are present just a touch, this beer dries out on the finish. Aged very well, there's no way I could tell this was a decade old. Medium-light in body with moderate carbonation, this beer is solid. The plastic character quickly devolves on the palate, exposing a rather muted base beer. I feel this is mischaracterized as a lambic.

Tons and tons of bubbles just keep on coming! Although the head isn't as big as you would think. Red with hint of amber in the color. Clear.

The smell is funky. Sweet and sour, just the perfect mix. Definitely cherry notes and some citrus coming through as well. The taste is kind of what I thought it would be just not as crazy. The beginning is the sweet and cherry part then gives way to funk and dryness.

I really have no idea if this is an authentic lambic. All I know is I really enjoy it. I think this would be even better on a hot summer day. Cheers to Paelman!

Oaked, cherried aroma, with tons of brett but not enough sourness.

Completely un-traditional as a kriek but as a fruit beer this is pretty damn tasty. Musty as hell, with tons of Brettanomyces but not enough sourness. The cherry character is fairly enjoyable. Funky, soft, woody and a medicinal finish.

Poured a ruddy maroon color with a pink-tinged bubbly head. Lots of fine carbonation noted crawling up the glass walls. Sharp, slightly medicinal aroma eddied around the aromas of musty old newsprint, barnyard, and fruit. The taste was truly mouth-puckering. Sour to the extreme and packing a load of tart cherry flavor. Acidity was high; between it and the carbonation, the tongue got thoroughly sizzled. Wild yeast funk, cherry pits, and a slight medicinal note played out for a dry finish. Feel was reminiscent of champagne in it's lightness and dryness.
This kriekbier seemed to have more of that barnyard "shithouse" aroma and taste to it than any other except maybe Cantillon's kriek. Not sure how the medicinal quality got there but this was still a fine fruit lambic.

My bottle of Uitzet Kriekbier didn't have a word of English on the bottle - not even the standard alcohol warning. Explosively carbonated, when poured the beer it raised a 2 inch head in my pilsner glass. Lots of little bubble continuously rising up through the brew. Amber with a slightly red tint - my first pours were completely transparent, but as I got towards the bottom of the bottle the yeast clouded up the beer. Yeast or not, this is one delicious brew. A wet wool/barnyard aroma with some fruitiness. Taste is one of sour cherries and oak, with a very dry finish. The high level of carbonation makes this beer jump off the tongue -maybe a little more carbonated than I would like, but that is really the only quibble I have with this beer. A truly excellent fruit lambic - stands up next to Cantillion in my book.

Reddish color, slightly hazy. Medium head. Aroma is cherry. A lighter bodied kriek. Cheery flavor is sour and tart. There is also a touch of "barnyard" in the nose and flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and tart.
