Black colour with a modest but steady head. Smell of malt, wine and coffee. These flavours return in the taste, together with some wood, chocolate and dark fruits. Medium bodied and quite smooth. This is a fine beer, but with an abv of 9.0, i expect more body and intensity in smell and taste. It tends to stay a bit too much on the safe side.

Pours a coal black color with a smaller, mohagony colored head, slowly collapsing to a thin coating at the edge of the glass.

Smells of campfire, dried plums and milk chocolate among lighter notes of old, booze soaked wood.

Showcases a medium bodied beer with a lighter, soft carbonation, making this a sipper.

Tastes of char, bitter chocolate and balancing, glazed toffee among fresh crushed coffee beans and earth. The beer turns sweeter then with caramel and spicy licorice enriching the flavors. Finishes rather watery with a late, fitting boozy punch featuring matured, fermented cherries, allowing for a short lasting, intriguing interplay with the burned malts in this.

Interesting take on a non-BA imperial stout with a well fitting boozy edge to it.

L: dark brown, barely tan head.
S & T: smoky coffee, somewhat chocolate-y, couldn't detect the port wine at all (which the description said had been added).
F: deceptive in that it doesn't taste alcoholic at all even though it's 9%, goes down smoothly.

O: Solid stout, drinks away easily for its alcohol percentage, but don't expect something especially port-like.
I would recommend it for porter/stout lovers, but I expected more.

L:
-pours the darkest of brown with no light coming through and a small to medium, frothy, khaki head
S:
-espresso,dark chocolate,nutty,slight cinnamon & nutmeg with a faint Wine-y sourness
T:
-Follows the nose + toast and sour cherries
F:
-medium carbonation
-medium body
-alcohol noticeable
O:
The added Port Wine doesn't bury the great Imperial Stout flavours.
This is brewed the right way.

Black, almost opaque, pour, surprisingly translucent for an imperial stout. Not much head or lacing. Smells of caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, figs, dark cherries (though the fruit aroma is quite feint). The taste follows through, with notes of caramel, maple syrup, coffee, dark chocolate and raisins. Very smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Not bad.
