quite a different ipa than the pieces of eight, equally enormous, but more of the new wave, cloudier and more citrusy hops, far less of a grain profile in both flavor and feel, but just as delicious. these guys are really on it right now. paler in color, brighter in the nose, citra driven it seems, but there again appears to be a lot of different hops in the equation here. bitterness is quite a bit lower too, these hops appear far more juicy, even fresher, unencumbered, and really pretty dramatic. there is a touch of sweetness here, oily and honey tasting, but gone by the finish, and as light as this is in color and grain flavor, its not too light in body, soft and creamy feeling with a citrus prickle in there and moderate carbonation. this one doesnt warm up quite as well, falls off a bit, but just a remarkable beverage, not too far from east or west coast in style, seemingly the best of both worlds here. just a tiny bit of booze later on fills in where heavier hop bitterness might normally be. overall an awesome beer, one i hope to drink plenty more of at some point. really stoked on foley brothers right now! this has to be the same beer as the imperial one by the same name yeah?

Poured out as a hazy looking golden color with a white head on top. The smell of the beer is well hopped, slight maltiness on the nose too. The taste of the beer has a decent malt backbone with a good hoppy finish to it. The feel is medium bodied. Overall it's a solid brew.

Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with a nice large white foamy head with good retention with some lacing. Aroma of floral hops notes with citrusy notes is pleasant but somewhat overshadowed by some bitterness. Taste is also dominated by citrusy hops with light tropical fruit notes with some bitter notes distinguishable. Body is full enough with good carbonation. Closer to your typical IIPA then some of the other beers from this brewer which are closer to Vermont IPA with less bitterness then the level that would be found in this beer.

Poured without any head to speak of and had very little lacing and none stuck to the edge of the glass that this was poured into, which caused pause.
The color of this beer is a opaque pale copper to a goldish color similar to a unfiltered wheat IPA or some such newer beer style.
Having heard this was world class amazing considering the initial pour and look of this beer I was eagerly awaiting putting this to my nose and then tasting it.
Then lets do it.
The aroma is of light fruits probably mostly orange without any popular hops hints coming through at all. Although I am a big fan of fruits: raw, in pies, drink aromas, jellies, whatever: I can not honestly say that a beer with a light oranges aroma would immediately win me over I must now drink from the glass I poured.
Light orange peel taste is quite welcome to me when I'm drinking a hefe or American Wheat beer but when drinking a Double/Imperial IPA I was overwhelming disappointed with the taste of this beer.
I was so looking forward to drinking this beer, having to hunt it down when I was in the general area that this beer is produced I was greatly disappointed in what it had to offer. It is nowhere close to anything like Heady Topper, Pliny the Elder, Project Dank, or any of the other worthy IPA's or double IPA's I have tried.
I guess the one saving grace of this beer is that there are no real negatives, turn offs, and I'm sure you have all tried those beers that give you that bitter beer face, or whatever face. You know what I mean.
My only remaining hope is that the alcohol percent lives up to its billing.

Wow this beer looks really interesting... the two Native beers I had from them were so-so, but this looked much better so figured I'd give it a try. Also nice swing top bottle to reuse after.

Pours a decent fizzy fluffy bubbly 1 finger head that fades pretty quickly though, more bubbles from the pour than from a legit head, touches of soapy lacing. Murky dirty orange color. 3.5

The nose is fantastic, as soon as I popped the top the entire area was filled with citrus blossoms and floraly citrus awesomeness. Lots of tropical fruit too, musty passion fruit and resin, some mango, guava, nice juicy orange and even a touch of grapefruit pith, hint of fruity bubblegum, and a nice aromatic toasty like reddish malt underneath. Mild sweet candied orange marmalade. 4.5

taste starts with sweet malts and big spicy hops this time, a bit different than before. Candy sweet reddish malts, with mild caramel and toasty flavors out front, quickly blend with spicy chewy like hops that get pretty bitter right out front. Then a grapefruit in the background comes through, little pithy, with some citrus and orange juice, little apricot like stone fruit, with mild guava and hints of generic tropical fruit. Orange peel bitter rind taste starts to dominate later, with a mild ester note and some warming booze later as well. Finish brings a bit of a spicy chewy big hop presence and big bitterness, with a little tropical fruit juice generic like flavor, bitter rind, some sweet candy caramel malts also lingering and pretty sticky mild sweet little dry. Not quite as good as the nose. 4

Mouth is med to fuller bod, decent carb, faint warming booze. 4

Overall OK, had some great flashes, amazing nose, flashes of nice hop flavor profile, but the flavor initially just came out of the gate too hard in both sweet syrupy malts and spicy chewy bitter hops, but still fairly enjoyable. Just mixed bag of great and so-so. 4.25

Special thanks to Maverick74 for the great extras

A - Hazy apple cider body with two fingers of pillowy off-white head. Nice retention and great lace.

S - Slightly worty nose. Wet bread, leafy greens, wilted basil, touch of spearmint.

T - Wet cilantro, rosemary and a touch of pine. Grass, boiled broccoli, and lemon on the backend.

M - Medium-light body. Ok carbonation.

O - Surprisingly vegetal. The beer was extremely hit or miss in the tasting group that I enjoyed this with.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep good color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is a nice blend of grassy hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of caramel and citrus that are quickly followed by a strong grassy hops bitterness. The malt character is hearty and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly hoppy.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, strong kick, very good representation of style, this is a very good 2IPA to drink for a long time.

Cloudy, dirty gold. Decent starting head which lasts. Spotty lace.

Creamy start with a pale malt base and subtle alcohol. There's grapefruit rind for the hop.

Smooth body with a light carbonation, but of the small bubbles variety. Solid pale malt base but the hop is the story here with a soft start and a moderate finish. The aftertaste is a nice blend of the two.
