Pours light honey gold with decent creamy head. Head dissipates fairly quickly leaving some light sticky lacing. Aroma is slightly dank and piney with some tropical fruit undertones. The flavor follows but seems a touch on the light side. Nice finishing bitterness. Alcohol not entirely hidden. Overall, not bad. Unfortunately, there is a lot of competition in this space around here

A: Poured from the bomber (thanks Mark!) into a Duvel tulip. Body is bright, clear golden-yellow that's more goldenrod when backlit. Nice thick 1-finger foamy white head on top leaves behind good lacing.

S: Grassy was the first impression, but upon further review I'm getting a bit of onion/garlic (do they use Amarillo or Simcoe hops?), some citrus and pine over a honey-malt foundation.

T: Lots of fruit - citrus (oranges and orange peel as well as a hint of grapefruit bitterness), tropical fruits and even stone fruit (some apricot and under-ripe peaches). Also a bit of spiciness, a tea-like quality and then a woodsy, tannic bitterness on the back end of the tongue. Nicely balanced between the sweeter flavors of the profile and the bitterness.

M: This one feels great - drinks more like a standard 6.5% IPA than an 8.2% DIPA. Soft carbonation, sure, but it's never slick or oily. Call it medium in heft.

O: Excellent DIPA. My first beer from these guys, and it makes a solid first impression.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy amber with a nice sized head. Lacing in spots as you enjoy it. The nose gets floral accented hops and the mouth revels in the well balanced ale! Yum!

Fair Maiden poured a lovely hazy deep gold in color with a nice thumb and a half worth of head that broke fairly slowly leaving a nice amount of lacing behind. The smell was beautiful. It was a rich combination of grapefruit, mango and tangerine providing a lovely citrus aroma that just told you it was fresh. This aroma carried through to the taste quite nicely. Grapefruit and pith were the strongest flavors, but the best part for me was the lingering aftertaste of tropical fruits. It just made for an enjoyable beer. The feel was great too. Carbonation was bang on in perfect range perhaps a bit higher than medium and it was not quite prickly. The general feel was slick and all in all it just rolls over the palate. All in all one of the best IIPAs I have had in a long while. I really enjoyed the flavors and feel of this beer and it just made for a pleasant experience.

22 oz. bottle

Pours golden amber with a dense creamy white foam head. Smells like apricots, pineapple, bready cereal grain, tannic tea, orange, grapefruit, peach, some spice, with earthy herbal woodsy dank grassy pine. Tastes like apricot, peach, spice, wildflowers, tannic tea, orange rind, grapefruit, pineapple, bready cereal grain, with earthy herbal woodsy dank grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy and smooth with moderate low carbonation. Overall a nice unique tasting DIPA.

Cloudy, dirty gold. Decent starting head which lasts. Spotty lace.

Creamy start with a pale malt base and subtle alcohol. There's grapefruit rind for the hop.

Smooth body with a light carbonation, but of the small bubbles variety. Solid pale malt base but the hop is the story here with a soft start and a moderate finish. The aftertaste is a nice blend of the two.

22oz bottle. Pours a burnt dark orange with an inch of fluffy head. Lots of lacing. Aromas of pear, grapefruit, pineapple and some grassy hops. The taste is grassy hops with tangerine, pineapple, grains, orange peel and a hint of lemon and lime zest. Lots of carbonation and slightly dry mouthfeel. Good Imperial IPA I'd buy once in a while.

Pours a hazy, golden orange color with a very nice off white head. Smells like citrus mixed with some grassy/earthy aroma. Very nice. Not much malt detected in the nose. Taste is similar to the nose. Citrus and earthy. Flavor is a touch subdued compared to the aroma. I don't get the candied fruit taste that I get with other hoppy beers from Foley Brothers. Moderate bitterness with a nice, medium mouthfeel.

Fair Maiden was the first beer I ever had from Foley Brothers and definitely made me want to try more. While it was the beer that put them on the map, I think they've surpassed it with their more recent beers. A solid brew for sure, but I think it's a level below Prospect and Pieces of Eight.

Pours a very cloudy light golden color with a thin white head that left little lacing. Smells of tropical fruits, piney hops, and citrus. Tastes of orange, nectarine, apricot, lemon, with a nice bitter hop finish. Light bodied, well carbonated. Overall very good but their other IPA that I had, Prospect, was clearly better IMO.
