Pours black with a finger of khaki head. Head retention is fair, with no lacing left behind. Aroma is a light hit of milk chocolate, but quickly followed and swallowed up by toasted, earthy malts. Flavor profile is earthy, biscuity, toasted malts, with a light hit of chocolate, and spices. Flavor profile is medium in thickness, with a smooth feeling. Overall, spices, and chocolate are pleasant, but the earthy malts are a little too grounded, and earthy for my liking.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 22oz bottle.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a nice looking black color. It poured like motor oil. A finger’s worth of off-white to almost tan sort of head slowly escaping nicely to form some concave lace sliding on into the beer. The aroma had a superb amount of thick rugged milk chocolate flowing into sweet black strap molasses. Cocoa powder, dark chocolate nibs, and then roasty coffee beans. The flavor blended extremely well between the roast to the sweet melding the molasses to the chocolate, milky with a cherished semi-spiced little bit of a sticky bite rolling on into the aftertaste and leaving a little bit of a sticky sweet sort of finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Moderate carbonation feels good for the most part. Acceptable stickiness. Overall, a very well done imperial stout by Foley Brothers.

Pours a very dark, almost black color with a tan to chocolate colored head. Head dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet with some roastiness and subtle chocolate. Not an overpowering aroma. Taste is roasted chocolate with a touch of sweetness. Actually less sweet than I was expecting based on the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium plus to almost full. Overall, a very good beer, but lacking something to push it to the world class category like many of their other beers.

Poured from a 22 oz bomber.

Pours a near pitch black color with a thin bubbly tan head. The head is gone instantly, leaving no lacing as it dissipates.

The aroma is very rich with chocolate, dark roasted malts, and caramel. There's a touch of earthiness on the back end.

The flavor brings a ton of dark roasted malts, caramel, and subtle molasses. There's also some sweet cream and the faintest hint of earthy hops on the finish.

The feel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Creamy and smooth, with plenty of alcohol warmth.

Overall, a great double stout that is full of flavor and balance. The alcohol is definitely present but the ABV is over 10% so that's to be expected.

From the 650 ml. bottle with no bottling date although I know it is fairly new. Sampled on Feb. 19, 2017.

Look at that luscious looking dark brown to near black pour with the delicate, yet short-lived tan head.

On the nose I get a get nice dose of roasted malts, sweet caramel, a little alcohol (it is 10%), and a low hop profile.

The body is smooth, and medium to full.

The taste has the same sweet roasted malt notes but also a hint of vanilla or cream anyway. The booze comes out a bit more here. Moderate but clean finish. Warming. This is what I expect from an Imperial Stout.
