On tap at Blackback Pub in Waterbury, VT.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like char and roasted malt, milk chocolate, and some smoke.

This is definitely older school, with a very bitter, almost smokey, and charred roasted malt character, with some lighter chocolate sweetness.

This is kind of thin, but also a bit creamy, with a decent drinkability.

This isn’t anything to send you reeling, but it was enjoyable.

5/5/21...pours dark brown with a black like appearance. Roasted chocolate nose. Relatively faint. Smooth milky flavor, oat meal laden. Lightly coffee roasted. Quite smooth. Nice.

Poured from a tap into pint glass in October 2021.

Appearance: Very dark black with a thin dark brown head. Head was about 1 finger high, and lasted a minute. It leaves only a little lacing on the glass, and ended with a thin tan head still on the beer.

Smell: Aroma of roasted grain, with some chocolate. There is also some caramel and a little coffee, but overall the roasted malt dominate the others. Aromas are not as strong as in other oatmeal stouts I have tried.

Taste: There are some smokie roasted flavors, as well as some coffee and chocolate flavors. Also, a little amount of bitter hop flavors to enhance the taste. There is a medium alcohol presence, which matches the 6% on the label.

Mouth-feel: Medium with a smooth body.

This is a good oatmeal Stout, but I did not enjoy it as much as other favorite oatmeal stouts from Founders, Hoppin' Frog, or Samuel Smith. It is very smooth and enjoyable to drink. The flavors are not as strong as other oatmeal stouts.

NO can date
Pours a rich creamy foamy 2 finger tan head with great retention, soapy lacing, very dark almost black color with mahogany ruby hue as light sneaks through

Nose brings some cocoa, dark chocolate, a bit of roast and coffee, a bit of a creamy flaked oat character, a hint of a smokey char, and hint of a fruity character

Taste brings more rich cocoa and charred roasted malts, a bit of a bitter roasted almost acrid bite that gets a touch metallic as well, some fruity notes in there that might hint at yeast fermenting a bit extra in the can, creamy oatmeal and rich chocolate notes, a little burnt coffee, getting a tad biscuity as well, some earthy spicy hops kicking in late with med-lighter bitterness, drier finish with med-high spicy hop bitterness

Mouth is a bit creamy but med bod yet feels a touch thin and not rich enough for an oatmeal stout, med foamy carb

Overall meh, they didn't seem to really hit it on this one, hops get a bit too aggressive, as well as the roasted malt characters that even get a touch metallic and hint at acrid, to top it all off the body wasn't quite where it should be. It's not terrible but not the quality I expected from Foley Bros., could also be quite old as the yeast additions hint at, but since no date I don't know

A: appears opaque, but is crystal clear if held to the light; no matter how you look at it, this beer has gorgeous ruby highlights; 1 finger light brown head that receded to a wispy cap; very little lacing;

S: deeply roasted grain and milk chocolate;

T: follows the nose with a back note of sweetness from start to finish; mild to moderate bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: good, but not great;
