Even before your first sip, the nose of this Belgian golden ale packs a punch. Dominated by yeast fruit notes, all hop aromas are buried under a balanced flavor and aroma. The dry finish with a touch of boozy heat, rounds out this golden ale.

Pours a golden copper color with a heavy fog to the translucency. Head is two fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is Belgian yeast, spice, clove, and grassy hops alongside bready, and mild nutty malts. Big banana note throughout, especially as the beer warms. Flavor profile features that big Belgian yeast and spice right out front again. Clove, bananas, and mild nutty malts build the rest of the flavor profile. The end is capped off with a grassy and spicy hop finish. Mouth feel is medium-thick. Upfront, texture is fuzzy, but otherwise flattens out after the first third. Overall, a spicy little Belgian number. Alcohol is masked well, considering this is double digits ABV (even if just barely.)
Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 12oz can. 12/19/22 can date. Consumed / noted 2/24/23. Reviewed from notes.

I frequent Backpocket Brewing in Dubque, IA and this is my go to beer while playing some pinball. I've tried it both bottled and draft from a goblet. Has a unique taste, but is very pleasing.

12 oz bottle poured into Ommegang snifter.
Beautiful peach-orange blush; lovely cap of 1 finger with lots of lace. Pleasing to the eyes.
Aroma of fruity yeast phenols - slight spice, some pear halves, slight lemon peel, some grassy pilsner malt, faint grapefruit rind, and slight fruitcake.
What went wrong here? This is really awful. Soggy rotten fruit meets wet bread and grapefruity hop spoilage. I don't think the beer is that old. Alcohol heat and slight canned pear pop up.
Feel is creamy and very carbonated, with lots of alcohol heat but not at like, say, Weyerbacher levels.
Overall, I had high hopes until it met my lips. The drain will get most of this.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden color with a very small, white head. It smelled of banana, clove and sweet caramel. Nice sweet caramel taste with a Belgian spiciness.

Pours an opawue straw-orange with a one finfer, creamy white head. Decent carbonation.
Smell of candied fruit and yeast. Carmel malt.
Taste follows nose in which candied, carmelized banana comes out. Good yeast strain in which malt hits hard.
Very smooth with boozy finish.
Underated Belgian.

It's all about the alcohol. If there is a flavor profile my mouth is too numb from alcohol to taste it.
