I visited The Mitten while visiting Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago. When I was there, they had 17 beers plus cider, seltzer and a root beer. Nothing too crazy, style-wise, though they did have a gose and a sour IPA. Overall my impression of the beer is good, if not outstanding; the hazy IPA I had was my favorite of the bunch.

Taproom is a neat old building, all brick and wood. There's a baseball theme to the decor, as you might guess with the name of the place. From the correct angle, you can see back to the brewhouse from the taproom. Service at the bar is friendly enough. I had their impossible burger; though they seem to specialize in pizza, the burger was quite good!

Nice, old timey interior of old baseball memorabilia, inside an old brick building, outside of downtown. The beers are good and are nearly all ales. Baseball themed beer names. Favorites were the Country Strong IPA & Docks No-No double IPA. One would wonder why a baseball themed taproom would be named mitten and not mit. Michiganders refer to the shape of their state, as the shape of a left handed mitten, which it is.

Great service, food and drinks. Pizza are stellar and best French dip I have had in years. Only thing for me was I was taken advantage of by a pan handler outside of facility.

Stopped in on a Sunday night for a pint, a howler, some cans of Peanuts and Crackerjack, and some takeout. Sunday night, place was half full. Smaller than expected building. About a dozen tables and a bar that seats seven or eight. Very much a neighborhood bar feel. Lots of Tigers memorabilia on the walls: pennants, signed jerseys, posters, all of which I appreciated. Around 15 brews on tap. Sat at the bar and had a pale ale while I waited for my order.
Service was quick, and the bartender was personable and friendly, chatting up the couple on one side of me and deftly handling the asshole sitting on my other side. Food was good, but after hearing everyone at the place go on about the pizza I wish I had ordered that instead. Lots of brew styles available.

Really enjoyed my time at this place. The beers were well made and tasty and the food was pretty delicious too. You can do flights of pizza, which is awesome! Nothing like getting to try a bunch of pizzas when you can't decide on one. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

One of several old fire house turned brewery I've been able to visit. The baseball theme is great and they have pizza flights, which was pretty exciting. The beer didn't really live up to the quality of the pizza, but it was good enough to enjoy such a fun taproom.

Casual dining and quality beer spot in a historic and converted fire was on point as far as the brown ale I enjoyed was concerned and the pizza was thin crust and delicious...well worth a of dozens of fun/quality/casual breweries in this beer saturated town

This place has a decent beer selection, but the vibe and pizza is what it's really all about. I absolutely loved the pizza i got a sampler of beer and me and my fiancee got a sampler of pizza(yes they do that and I recommend doing so). It just strengthened my love for Grand Rapids. I've only been to this city one time and after that visit I am absolutely certain I want to move here. If you haven't been to this city go, and then visit The Mitten and the Hop Cat and every other craft brewery they have to offer. While you're at catch a live Free Beer and Hot Wings show(I didn't do it while I was there but I am a huge fan from a different state and have met them and they are f'ing hilarious). Seriously I want to move to this town and it's places like The Mitten that make me want to move the 6 hours from friends and family go here and everywhere in Grand Rapids. P.S. sorry for the rambling I've had a few tonight.

Had lunch on a Tuesday the week after Christmas. Was slow when I got there but packed when I left. 20 handles, solid variety. Pizza was amazing, highly recommended

I loved the tap room with the old school baseball theme. I really enjoyed my the pizza and the service and selection of the beer were also excellent. However, I was not overly impressed with the beer with nothing being really memorable about the beer other than it being rather forgettable.
